Ever wondered why some emotional patterns just seem to stick around, no matter how hard you try to shake them? It’s not just you. This is something I see all the time, and it’s called *intergenerational trauma*.
It’s a big phrase, but the idea is simple: it’s about the emotional pain, stress patterns, and even behaviours that get passed down from one generation to the next. Think of it as a legacy, but not the kind you want.
How does it happen? It’s not always obvious. It shows up in parenting styles, ingrained beliefs, the things that were *never* talked about, and those survival patterns that became second nature.
Kids are like sponges. They soak up the emotional climate of their home.
→ If love felt unsafe growing up, then safety can feel completely foreign as an adult. It’s a tough truth, but it’s real.
→ If showing emotions got you punished, then numbness often becomes a protective shield. It feels safe, but it keeps you from truly living.
Here’s the crucial part: *you are not broken*. You simply adapted. You learned how to navigate a world based on what was shown to you. Those adaptations, while once necessary, might be holding you back now.
Recognising these patterns is the first step. It’s about seeing them with compassion, not judgment. And that’s where coaching comes in. It helps you untangle these old threads and start weaving a new story.
*Awareness is the start of freedom*. It truly is. When you understand *why* you feel or react a certain way, you gain the power to choose differently.
Have you ever noticed patterns in your own life that feel like they’re echoes from the past? What’s one thing you’re ready to change?
The silent patterns of your ancestors are speaking through you. Discover how to finally understand their message and change your narrative.
