HAND OR FOOT REFLEXOLOGY - is one better than the other?
Some reflexologists contend that working the reflexes on the foot is "better" than working them on the hand. While it's true that it's easier to locate a reflex on the foot more accurately than on the hand, due to the foot's larger size, in my experience both are equally effective.
One of my most spectacular successes was through treating a patient via the hands. They had seeping lymphoedema affecting both legs. This is where lymph fluid seeps through the skin because the lymph nodes are blocked causing the legs to swell up. It's an awful condition, with the legs seeping and feeling heavy during the day. At night, in bed, the lymph would stop seeping but would cause excruciating pain as the leg swelled up and stretched the skin, often causing it too burst and bleed. Sorry to be so graphic but this was the reality of the condition. The patient could not lift their legs for a foot reflexology treatment, so I gave them hand reflexology instead. It took 4 treatments to clear the blockage and stop the seeping. The patient noticed their legs felt a little bit lighter after the first treatment, and felt something positive was starting to take place, and therefore continued with the treatment. I am pleased to say that the seeping has never come back for this patient, who was treated over 3 years ago. For them, it was life-changing for the better.
