What not to do after a facial š
A facial doesnāt end when you leave the treatment room. Proper aftercare is crucial to protect your results, support skin recovery and prevent irritation. Hereās what to avoid after a facial to keep your skin calm, hydrated and glowing.
Donāt forget to prioritise hydration! Drink plenty of water after your facial. Hydration helps flush out toxins released during the treatment and supports healthy skin regeneration.
Donāt engage in physical activity. Avoid intense workouts, saunas, steam rooms and hot showers for at least 24ā48 hours. Heat and sweat can irritate freshly treated skin and cause inflammation or breakouts.
Donāt over-exfoliate. Skip harsh scrubs, exfoliating acids or cosmetic-grade peels. Your skin needs time to heal; over-exfoliating can damage the skin barrier.
Donāt use masks or active ingredients. Avoid face masks and strong active ingredients (such as retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, or vitamin C) for a few days post-facial to allow your skin to fully recover.
Donāt forget your SPF. Sunscreen is non-negotiable after a facial. New skin cells are more sensitive to UV damage, so apply a broad-spectrum SPF daily, even if youāre indoors.
Donāt wear makeup. Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours. This allows your pores to breathe and your skin to absorb the beneficial ingredients from your facial treatment.
Following the right facial aftercare routine helps extend your results and protects your fresh skin feeling š«§
