We totally understand the frustration around access. It’s something we’re constantly working on.
In fact, just last month, we welcomed three new GP registrars to the team. That brings us to a total of 11 GPs (3 partners, 5 salaried GPs, and 3 registrars) All of whom see patients.
Over the past 30 days, we’ve delivered:
1,422 face-to-face GP appointments
120 telephone consultations
112 home visits
92 eConsultations..and somehow, we still had 90 patients not attend their booked appointments. (Yes, some of them were same-day GP slots others were nurses appointments)
We know access is a hot topic, that’s why we’ve continued to offer even more for our patients:
Minor surgery ✂️
Steroid injections 💉
Soon: coil & implant fittings/removals 🔄
And through our PCN, we also offer:
Saturday appointments
First Contact Physio & Mental Health
Access to counsellors
A dedicated frailty team for housebound patients
To name a few.
We’re also proud to support innovation through pilot schemes like FibroScan with the Freeman Hospital, helping detect liver issues early.
So, are we offering more? Absolutely.
Are we increasing capacity? Yes.
Are we doing it all while staying committed to patient care and balancing clinical time wisely? You bet.
We’re constantly looking for ways to improve, but when appointments go unused due to no-shows, it affects everyone. We’ve put in policies, same-day booking systems, text reminders, yet the issue continues.
We promise we’re listening, we’re adapting, and we’re always striving to serve better.
