Starting April 2026 in Newcastle I'm delighted to be offering a 9 month Pranayama immersion course. Aimed at those with a minimum of 2 years Yoga experience or teachers the course builds in a systematic way with 8 Saturdays over the period held at Dinington village hall just outside Newcastle.

Efficient breathing is key to enhancing overall health and wellbeing. In the Yoga tradition this has been known for thousands of years and Pranayama is the main practice for spiritual development.

Thanks to everyone who came on my Yoga retreat at Kagyu Samyeling last weekend, I think it was the 15th retreat there. It's a place where when I arrive I slip into the vibe of it instantly. With the longer sessions we explore a deeper side to Yoga practice beyond Asana, hopefully to provide a deeper sense of release and self observation.

Next up there's an extended session at the Exchange on Saturday 18th October from 10.00-12.00 which will be the last one for the year.

Always time for a cup of tea when teaching. Thanks to for the invite to teach on her Yoga weekend at Brinkburn Priory the other week. I did a session on keys to headstand, so breaking the entry/exit and holding into it's individual parts.

As one of my teachers Brian Cooper used to say, if you can't do a posture break it down and practice it for a few months rather than rushing it.

Next up I'm doing a 2 hour extended practice on Saturday 18th October at The Exchange in North Shields. It will be about cultivating groundedness for the Autumn months.

After the summer break, classes are back on from Monday.

A favourite pass time, hanging out in a coffee shop, people watching, meditating on not having to do anything. This particular one is the oldest in Europe, founded in 1720. Rock and roll lifestyle 👍

Kaya Kriya - Body action 🕉

A lovely practice for dissolving tension and over thinking, loosening up the neck and shoulders, changing habitual patterns.

Connect with the breath.
Start with the feet first, inhale roll in, exhale roll out.
Then add in the arms and palms.
Then start the turning of the head.
Practice for 5 to 20 mins, then rest.

Remember, the arms and palms always go the opposite way to the legs and feet. 👌
