I do not seek the limelight
Nor do I yearn for the spotlight.
I am a tender of thresholds
Most alive where opposites touch.
Dawn & dusk
Death & birth
Shadow & light
Blood & bone
Silence & scream
Veil & vision
I hold the reins in these liminal spaces,
with an open, reverent wonder
for what awakens when senses re-emerge & converge.
I’ve been here before.
I’ve held them many times.
And I’ve learned how to unbridle, untether & untame.
Not from dripping bare in wild performative abandon
But from slowing…
sensing…
spiralling…
& feeling my way back into the sacred cosmology of my own body.
And you can do that too.
If you’re ready to take back your own reins, this space was crafted especially for you…
To Re-claim
To Re-member
To Re-wild.
Are you ready to ride?

You didn’t come here to become.
You already became.
You came here to re-claim.
You came here to re-member.
Your medicine.
Your mission.
Your vow.
Your soul.
As Visionary.
As Wayshower.
As Edgewalker.
As Bridge-Builder.
I see you.
Word Weaver.
Soul Seer.
Threshold Keeper.
Some call you Teacher, Coach & Guide.
You came for the ride wild astride…
The ride home we’ve prepared for lifetimes…this one last time.
Come on in & land your seatbones.
The horses have been waiting.
Welcome… it’s so good to have you home. 🤍

MINIMUM of 1.5 % DRY MATTER…not actual haynet weight.
I consciously stepped out of the equine nutrition echo chamber several years ago because it’s an archaic system that needs to collapse, much like all the others that are crumbling underfoot. Way overdue time to get beyond the weight watchers starvation paddocks/track systems (because, unpopular opinion, they’re not solving the issue, only driving it deeper…biodiversity loss in the soil & biome is at an all time crisis point) I spent long enough in the equine clinical veterinary space to see what was/wasn’t working.
Nutrition is first & foremost a behaviour…start there…& get down to grassroots with relationship, stewardship & caretaking. The land feeds our horses…it’s a reciprocal relationship that’s been hijacked by consumptive & extractive bagged processed junk feed for too long.
This is not an issue we can solve overnight, however, we’ve got some great feed companies now that can help us move to much needed forage-first foundations & Simple System Horse Feeds is a one I personally use & recommend.
𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? Horses who are over-restricted very cleverly lower their metabolic rate and hold onto body fat as part of their natural survival mode. This makes weight loss trickier and increases the risk of Cushing’s disease, EMS and subsequently laminitis.
Your horse requires at least 1.5% of their ideal body weight in total dry matter per day. Although, at Simple System, we typically suggest feeding 2% for those looking to lose weight. This is because horses who feel hungry are likely to endure stress - a known trigger for laminitis and other issues.
If your horse is looking a little 'too well' and needs to lose weight, they may need to have their calorie intake reduced. It is however important that they are still receiving the nutrients required to support their muscles and vital organs. Their diet should consist of low sugar, low starch, high fibre feeds with good levels of protein.
An example Feed Plan for such horses is;
🟣 Lucie Fibre Cubes as the soaked pellet / base feed, providing much of the bulk fibre and nutrients.
🟣 Organic Lucie Stalks as the chop, bulking out the feed, slowing eating rate and encouraging chewing / saliva production.
🟣 MetaSlim to provide a top-up of vitamins, minerals and protein, whilst optimising blood sugar levels and aiding insulin effectiveness.
For very good doers, management is vital alongside correct feeding. Here are a handful of suggestions - there are many more!
- Grazing may need to be restricted and replaced with high fibre, lower sugar and starch options such as hay or forage replacers. Avoid ryegrass where possible as this is typically higher in sugar than native grasses.
- Consider exercise - can they be, or should they be, working harder? Gradual build up of fitness levels is key.
- An overweight horse or pony rarely needs rugging - even when the nights are still chilly.
- Later cut forages are likely to be better suited than earlier cuts.
- Soaking hay may be required to reduce sugar levels. We recommend soaking for a maximum of one hour.

Your equestrienne ancestors opened their thighs to ride wild astride in defiance for a reason.
We’re not here to change the [horse] world, we’re here to birth an entirely new one.
Let these times rewild your ride...WE are the women who came to re-member.
We are very aware that it was once strongly instilled amongst horse owners to give an Equest Pramox to all horses in winter. Unfortunately, we have since realised that this practice is wrong and leads to problems with wormer resistance. 𝗡𝗢𝗪 is the time to change and adopt a new approach.
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆:
🐛 Moxidectin (in Equest and Equest Pramox) is the only drug effective against encysted redworm and should not be overused
🐛 Praziquantel (in Equest Pramox) is one of only two drugs effective against tapeworm and so should also not be overused
🐛 If worms develop too much resistance to moxidectin and praziquantel, we will struggle to treat severe worm burdens in horses in the future (youngsters will be most affected, before developing a good immunity to worms)
🐛 Cases of resistance to both of the above drugs have already been reported
🐛 There are no new wormers on the horizon, so we must preserve the efficacy of the few we have
🐛 Many horses do not actually have a large encysted redworm burden over winter (e.g. horses between the ages 5-15 with consistently low WECs and good pasture management) and therefore do not require moxidectin
🐛 Only around 1 in 4 horses in the UK have a tapeworm burden high enough to need treating, so most do not require praziquantel
🐛 Therefore, only a small proportion of horses actually require Equest Pramox. Often, a different wormer is more appropriate, or for low risk horses with a negative tapeworm test, no wormer is required at all
🐛 Wormers can have a negative effect on the horse's gut health
🐛 Wormers are excreted in faeces, contaminating the environment - these chemicals are toxic to aquatic life and insects, such as dung beetles
I'm not a fan of track systems for many reasons & actually never have been from a natural nutrition/land/herd health perspective.
Recent research shows they do not increase daily movement & they lead to loss of ground cover & increased soil erosion.
This is not the direction we want to be heading for the long term health of the herd.
I am a fan, however, for many reasons of Equiculture and The Equicentral System which is founded on solid behavioural, nutritional & regenerative land management research & practice. This does incorporate existing tracks/laneways on a property but it is not the sole focus.
Pasture tracks are a modern equine housing trend often implemented as a weight control strategy due to the belief that they promote movement, though t…

We’re all on this ride home together.
Some are on a very different ride.
Your energy is a priceless exchange that commands reciprocity.
In these times, learn to discern with whom you wish to ride home with.

Dear Woman,
Do not tame your triggers.
They’re a primal messenger alerting you to threat your body has long survived.
A timeline portal calling to be healed & sealed.
Bring your wild in closer…get to know her intimately.
What tracks does she invite you to trace in with more tenderness?
What stories is she longing to be witnessed?
Locate her.
Welcome her.
Express Her.
Transmute & integrate.
The ride in is the ride through.
Allow Her sacred witness in reverence not rebuke.
Dear Woman…do not tame your triggers.
Your full expression & wholeness is so needed for this wild ride home.

I’m Jayne... Mumma Mare, Equine Scientist, Nutritionist, Feminine Yoga & Meditation Teacher & Equestrienne Embodiment Mentor, plus founder of several unique programs that bring an alchemical blend of science, sensuality & spirited soul to the barn.
My work is mainly focused on nourishing and deepening the horse-woman relationship and the many aspects of that that go censored and untouched in our heavily masculinised industry....
...like the fact we've been riding in saddles & styles designed by men, for the male anatomy for decades (hello pelvis, hip, knee pain anyone?)
...or that we may be terrified to even get back in that saddle (and often bullied for it)...for many reasons, especially postpartum when our bodies have undergone immense neural, physiological & emotional shifts.
...or that we are cyclical & seasonal beings with a menstrual cycle that (even if we no longer bleed, for whatever reason) means we have unique needs to be honoured on whole other level to our non-wombanly counterparts. And the GREATLY impacts our relationship with our horses.
...or that as women we are wired for deeply intuitive, often heightened connection with our horses that we’re discouraged or shamed for opening the arena gates on.
I'm also a tally-ho-a-go-go to focus the Trauma-Informed lens on our industry and creating safe, co-regulated spaces as empowering & compassionate foundations for all...a crucial centreline missing in barns, pastures and arenas globally.
My fundamental belief is that when women are healthy and happy the whole herd (and planet) is healthy and happy.
My heart-felt desire is that we all get to live wildly nourished, deeply connected and with a felt sense of true freedom.
And our horses have been waiting patiently at the gate to show us the way.
Welcome along to restoring the Feminine in the ride...it's time to reclaim our Wild....together.
