I asked my client to choose what they wanted to do for a week, and their results improved.

Why? because i gave them a choice and let their body decide what was needed.

I can suggest practices but their body tells us what feels safe and comfortable.

If we remove choice, remove how it feels or simply do too much, we unintentionally add extra pressure onto an already overwhelmed nervous system.

When i work with clients we work together
*To find the practices that feel safe and comfortable
*To notice when reaching capacity
*To recognise when ticking off a to-do list, rather than the benefit of relaxation.

I constantly ask my clients, how are you feeling, so we are guided by their body and they choose what works.

Choice lead to regulation, its tells the nervous system; you're safe, in control & can relax.

This is one of the ways we rebalance or regulate the nervous system when working together.

When I was going through burnout I found ways to support my nervous system so I did them all haha!

But I didn’t see results, I actually got worse!

Going through burnout, I had to throw all of my beliefs, values, coping mechanisms out the window and listen, listen to my body.

The nervous system needs safety, and slow gentle pace in order to recover and slow increases in capacity.

After a fast paced life where effort equals results it was difficult to slow down, but slowly my body adjusted until it felt comfortable and I had more energy, slept better, didn’t feel stressed and anxious all the time.

Now I want to show you, how to implement simple daily breathing techniques so your body can take a break, rest and recover before it gets to burnout.

Anxiety isn't just in the mind.

💭 Racing thoughts
💓 Fast heartbeat
💤 Trouble sleeping
😣 Muscle tension
😰 Feeling restless or on edge
🫁 Fast & shallow (chest) breathing
*It's a Full body experience

So we need the mind & body to work together to feel calmer.

Breathwork
*Slows & deepens the breath (body)
*Signals to the body it's safe (mind & body)
*Slows thoughts (mind)

Start with Coherent Breathing
Inhale & exhale through the nose
Inhale 5 Secs
Exhale 5 Secs
*Takes you out of the mind & into the body

Dm me "anxiety" to learn more about how breathwork can help you to feel calmer, balanced and less stressed.

I used to not do anything for myself & eventually i burnt out.

I wish more people knew that looking after yourself isn't selfish, its essential.

When you do something for yourself each day, you show yourself that:
*You matter
*You come first
*Your body can trust you to give it what it needs.

Burnout starts with not looking after ourselves enough.

Simple way to avoid burnout:
*Start looking after yourself
*Listen to you body, & give it what it needs. (Sleep, rest, recovery, nutrition, hydration)

When your body doesn't have to shout for basic things, it learns that you will take care of it.

📢 Please start by doing one thing for yourself each day! Show yourself & your body that you come first.

If you're feeling stressed, anxious, irritable, exhausted, struggling to sleep, take the first step today to show yourself and your body that you matter & book a discovery call (link in bio) Or DM me to have a chat.

Last week I took 90mins in the middle of the day for me .

If felt uncomfortable but I knew it was needed .
*I could have done another task on my to do list
*I could have created something for social media
* I could have sent out another proposal

But I knew the one thing I needed was to support myself.

So instead of doing more work, I paused, took a break and did a somatic release session as that’s what my body needed that day.

You might be thinking I can’t do that in the middle of the day Laura I have work! Yes I am incredibly lucky to have a business where I have my own schedule.

But you do have the time for yourself, you just have to make the time for yourself. (Read that again please)

It has been a journey to make time for myself but now I know it’s a priority, when I don’t look after myself I wouldn’t be able to:
*support my clients
*show up for my business
*attend events
*meet fantastic connections
*spend time with family and friends

I’m not perfect, sometimes life gets busy and I have to remind myself to come back to prioritising myself but honestly the more I put into myself the better I show up, so it’s 1000% worth it.

Want to start today?
*start doing one thing for day for yourself
And don’t miss 2x days in a row

Are you the one who always gets things done?

*Rushing around, putting everyone else first (Work, family, friends)
*Put on a smile (I'm fine, just busy)

*But inside
*Wired but tired, always "on"
*Snappy or distant with people (You don't mean to be)
*Hit the deadlines, take care of everyone else, because you have responsibilities & bills to pay.
*The knot in your stomach, tightness in your shoulders, the weight of holding it all together.

Rushing around, carrying the weight of everything, feeling tense, irritable & less productive.

Are all signs your nervous system is "stuck" in fight/flight/freeze.

You don't need to do more, you need to support yourself.

Dm me "Support" to stop just surviving & start living, & take the first step by looking after yourself.

Simplest way to reduce stress, anxiety & avoid burnout, is to understand your capacity.

We aren't taught how to know, when we are reaching our capacity.

There are signs in the body, that show up, but we often ignore, over-ride or just don't know what to do.

Our breath can not only show us when we are reaching our capacity.
*Faster, shallow (Chest breathing)
*Holding our breath
*Feeling breathless

With breath training we can also expand our capacity. So we can deal with life's stressors that bit easier.

When we understand those signs, we can pause, stop, rest & recover so we don't go beyond our capacity for too long, and avoid full blown burnout.

If you are feeling:
*Wired but tired, struggle to get to sleep or stay asleep.
*Get home & collapse on the sofa, as no more energy
*Irritable with loved ones (but you don't mean to be)
*Feeling breathless, or holding your breath

DM me: "connection" to learn to spot the signs, slow the pace and build your capacity.

Often with burnout it can be a sign of doing too much but also too much of the wrong thing. (Not looking after ourselves)

Before burnout there were signs my body was saying “too much” but I was so disconnected from my body I just kept going. I had to, I had responsibilities and bills to pay.

*exhaustion
*irritability
*muscle tension
*digestive issues

I didn’t understand what the symptoms were trying to tell me.

They were telling me, this is too much;
All signs of dysregulated nervous system, where the body is stuck in an activated (fight/flight) or shutdown (freeze)

I now want to show people that living in survival mode, isn’t normal, your body is showing people this is too much. Spot the signs, 👉🏻support the nervous system 👉🏻before reaching burnout.

Yes these things can be part of life when going through busy periods or deadlines etc but they shouldn’t be happening on a daily basis.

If this is happening daily it’s a sign your nervous system needs some support to move out of surviving and into living.

😴Not enough sleep
Sleep is key for recovery
If you are not sleeping long term get some support please

💪🏻Muscle tension all the time
Feeling tense and on edge all the time is a sign the body can’t relax and stick in “survival”

🪫Running on empty
Exhausted all the time & pushing through is a sign your body is saying, “too much”

😮‍💨Breathlessness every day
Faster breathing & breathlessness adds extra pressure to the body
Feeling breathless going for a walk or going upstairs? A sign your breath needs some support

🔥Cycling through burnout
Full steam ahead>drop with exhaustion> go again.
This is a big sign your body needs support or eventually it won’t be a cycle it will just stop.

All of these signs are signs that the body is stuck in “survival”, trying to keep going when it needs support to be able to rest and recover.

I work with my clients to slowly bring the body into relaxation, so that it feels safe to stop surviving and rest and recovery feel safe.

❌no drastic changes
❌ filling your day with protocols
✅slow progression
✅support for body to feel safe & comfortable

If you’re fed up of surviving and want to start living. Message me “connection” and let’s get you back to yourself again.

Things i do to support myself & my nervous system.

🫁 Breathwork
Regulating my breath daily helps to balance my nervous system so i can deal with the difficult times a bit easier.
*Supporting the breath during the good times, helps during the difficult times.

🚶‍♀️💃🏼 Movement
Walking, gym, yoga, or just dancing
Allowing my body to move, helps to move any emotions, or tension that might otherwise get “stuck” in the body.

🧘‍♀️Meditation/hypnosis/Yoga nidra/N.S.D.R
Slow the mind & the body for mental rest
Improves clarity
Helps with focus & creativity

🛝Play
Just being a child, having fun and enjoying life!
Is so good for the nervous system to have fun, relax and just enjoy life.

The key thing to all of these practices:
I put myself first!

One of the key things i find with nervous system regulation is you need to show up for yourself, your body and give it what it needs. You can’t come back to balance if you are not supporting your own body.

Supporting myself first, helps me to support my clients.

If you’d like to learn more about;
*how to reduce stress
* stop surviving and start living
*have more energy even on busy days
* finally have a good night sleep
dm me “support” and let me help you guide your body back to balance.
