Quartz Yoga Join a sociable mixed yoga class at Rising Sun Countryside Centre in Benton. Specialising in back & joint care, strength, balance, flexibility and nurturing.

Relaxation. Option for coffee in the cafe afterwards. DM Loraine for more info. Yoga classes in Newcastle Upon Tyne for all ages and abilities. Beginners Welcome. To help improve your flexibility, posture and general fitness. Yoga helps to relieve stress and restores your natural energy, run by a British Wheel of Yoga teacher. Contact Loraine for more info. Classes on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings. £7.50 per class or £5 per class when you pay for a block of classes. Classes are welcoming, bring a yoga mat. There are spare mats for beginners however they are first come first served so come early if its your first class!

Have a read! A really interesting American Heart Association article sharing some research and insights on why yoga breathing techniques support our cardiovascular system and mind/body health.

Gentle Breathing practises we enjoy in class:
🌊Ujjayi/ Ocean breath - stimulates our Vagus Nerve to calm the nervous system
🪷Nadi Shodhana - balances the right and left sides of the brain helping to reduce anxiety and promote calm
3️⃣Three-Part Breath: A foundational, calming technique 1) belly breath 2) rib breath 3) upper chest to encourage full breathing oxygenating the system gently
🔥Kapalabhati (Breath of Fire): quick exhales, followed by passive inhales to boost energy.
😴Ratio breathing: A relaxation technique to reduce anxiety and aid sleep.
🪭Sh*tali (Cooling Breath): to reduce body heat great for hot flushes!

Classes are run on Saturday mornings at 9.45am and Wednesday evenings at either 6pm or 7.30pm (this class is full). Classes are £7.50 per class or £5 per class when you pay for a block of classes. Classes are welcoming, bring a yoga mat. There are spare mats for beginners however they are first come first served so it’s advisable to come early if its your first class!
