The Therapy Rooms

The Therapy Rooms Alternative Therapy Newcastle. Massage | Sports Massage, Pregnancy Massage | Swedish Massage | Osteo WHY CHOOSE?

Unlike many places you can go for a massage, at The Therapy Rooms, a therapeutic massage treatment involves an in depth consultation and spinal assessment. You’ll be asked to talk about your lifestyle and your therapist will be able to make practical constructive suggestions as to how you can improve your health. For most people, their health and the reason they need a massage, isn’t just the result of one simple event, but many lifestyle choices. At The Therapy Rooms we can help in, not only dealing with the symptoms of the problem but also helping you to find out the underlying causes.

An aromatherapy massage has many benefits including:

💐Reducing Stress and Anxiety

The combination of soothing touch and calming essential oils (like lavender or chamomile) helps lower cortisol levels, promoting deep relaxation and a sense of mental calm.

💐Relieving Muscle Tension and Pain

Gentle massage techniques combined with aromatherapy can ease tight muscles, reduce stiffness, and alleviate discomfort, helping your body feel lighter and more flexible.

💐Enhancing Mood and Emotional Well-being

Aromatherapy can trigger the brain to release endorphins and serotonin, boosting your mood, energy, and overall sense of well-being.

Have you heard of Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release Therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique that focuses on easing tension in the fascia. This is the thin layer of connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles throughout the body.

When this tissue becomes tight or restricted (often due to stress, injury, or poor posture), it can cause pain, stiffness, and reduced movement. Myofascial Release is used to:

✨ Relieve chronic pain and tightness
✨ Improve flexibility and movement
✨ Support postural alignment
✨ Enhance overall relaxation and wellbeing

Unlike deep tissue massage, this technique uses slow, sustained pressure to gently release tension and restore balance to the body.

Day 10 & 11

Some time for r&r and a visit to Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa. It included Himalayan Salt saunas, ice pools, mineral pools, covering yourself in mud (full of minerals, obviously, not just dirt from the garden!), letting the mud dry and then a steam room to wash it all off.

A trip to town and then finished the day off with a trip to Te Puia Marama Geyser Light Trail. A surreal experience. The whole walk takes about an hour and the photos only show a part of it - It’s quite dark in places and there’s constant beautiful singing and rhythmic drums, billows of steam and gurgling, bubbling and spurting water noises.

Day 11 brought another . Rotorua to Taupo. Breakfast I ordered a three egg omelette ... but they failed to tell me that the hens are like monsters here. It’s so big but thankfully Andy doesn’t like food to go to waste and he helps me out!!

Waikite Valley Hot Pools is on the way to Taupo so we spent several hours floating in hot/warm water in blissful surroundings.

We did our food shop at Woolworths (where else) and a late lunch before checking in to Sails by the Lake motel. And then we spent our evening on a catamaran on Lake Taupo for a sunset cruise. There may have been a little wine ....

Day 8 & 9

Picked up a car and started our road trip - Auckland to Coromandel Bay.

A night at The Church, in Hahei and a walk to Cathedral Beach.

In the morning we headed to Hot Water Beach, which, as the name suggests, has a natural supply of hot water running into the sea.

A pit stop at The Falls Retreat where I tasted one of the best pizzas I’ve eaten!

Then on to Karangahake Gorge for a short hike (to walk off said Pizza).

Finally arrived in Rotorua at about 5pm. Rotorua is so much bigger and more commercial than I expected. I like it though. And everyone is so friendly.

☀️ As the dark nights draw in, many of us start to feel the effects of shorter days - we feel lower energy, low mood, or even that “winter slump.”

This time of year can trigger "Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)", a type of depression linked to reduced sunlight exposure. One simple, science-backed way to help is **bright light therapy** - here you can use a specially designed light box to mimic natural daylight.

💡 It is said that regular use (usually in the morning) may help:

✅ Boost mood and energy levels
✅ Improve sleep-wake cycles
✅ Support overall wellbeing through the winter months

If you’ve noticed your motivation dipping or you’re struggling with the darker days, it might be worth exploring bright light therapy but you should always chat with a healthcare professional for guidance. 🌙✨

💆‍♀️ Deep Tissue Massage Newcastle Upon Tyne – Releasing Tension, Restoring Balance

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique that uses slow, firm pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It’s especially helpful when tension or tightness hasn’t responded to lighter massage methods.

Over time, stress, injury, or poor posture can cause tight bands of muscle (adhesions) that lead to pain, stiffness, and restricted movement. Deep tissue massage helps to gently release these areas, restoring comfort and ease.

✨ Benefits may include:

🌿 Relief from chronic muscle tension and discomfort
🌿 Improved flexibility and range of movement
🌿 Reduced inflammation and muscle soreness
🌿 Better circulation and tissue health
🌿 A greater sense of relaxation and wellbeing

This technique supports both physical recovery and deep relaxation - helping your body feel freer, lighter, and more balanced.

🍂✨ Hello, October ✨🍂

A new month is the perfect time to take a reminder to slow down, breathe, and take time for you. As the days get shorter and the air turns colder, let October be the month you put your wellbeing first. 🌿💆‍♀️💆

Whether it’s easing away tension, finding a quiet moment of calm, or simply giving yourself the care you deserve, try to make space for yourself.

When you take care of your body and mind, everything else feels lighter. ✨
