Caring for loved ones living with dementia can be an incredibly rewarding thing to do.

But there are a lot of challenges carers can encounter that aren’t always visible, such as stress, overwhelm and burn out, to name but a few.

Sometimes this experience can be likened to an iceberg, as illustrated here, showing that what is visible is often only a small part of someone’s reality.

If you’re a carer, what would your dementia 'iceberg' look like?

Remember to check in on those around you, they may seem fine on the outside but be struggling deep down 💙

The care and support group - Christmas Jumper Day is raising money for Save The Children! - 🎄🎅🏼

We're taking part in Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 11 December! -

By pulling on our Christmassy knits and donating, we’ll be supporting children in the UK and around the world to keep safe, healthy, and learning. We’ll be helping them fight for the future they deserve. Just click the Give Now button above to donate £2 (or more if you're feeling generous...) and it will go straight to Save the Children. The money we raise could go towards some amazing things like:

£2 could buy a packet of seeds for a family in Kenya to grow their own food, after drought has killed their crops.👩‍🌾

£8 could buy a blanket to keep a child in Ukraine warm through winter.🥰

£15 could pay for two weeks of super-powered peanut paste to help a child beat hunger.🍴

£20 could buy enough supermarket vouchers for two children in the UK.🛍️

£40 could provide a family in Gaza with a Baby Kit to give them the items they need to provide basic care to their infant. 👶🏼🍼

Winter’s here ☃🌨

This week’s colder weather means trickier driving conditions across Tyne and Wear.

Please drive safely whether it's on the way to or from work, or even to do some Christmas shopping.

As part of , here are a few quick tips to keep you safe:

🚗 Slow Down: Ice, snow, and rain reduce grip. Drive well below the limit and leave extra space between vehicles.
❄️ Check Before You Go: Inspect tyres, lights, and wipers. Clear all windows and mirrors of ice and snow before setting off.
📲 Plan for the Unexpected: Carry essentials - warm clothing, torch, phone charger, and a small emergency kit. Let someone know your route.
⚠️ Brake Gently: Harsh braking or steering can cause skids. Ease off the accelerator and steer smoothly.

The UK Health Service Agency have issued a cold health alert for the North East until 8am on 22 November ❄️

With temperatures expected to drop, there are things you can do to prepare for the cold weather to ensure yourself, and others, stay safe.

🎃 Trick or Treat with Kindness this Halloween! 👻

As the spooky season arrives, we know many families will be out enjoying trick-or-treating fun. We kindly ask everyone to remember that not everyone may want to join in the Halloween excitement.

🦇 Let's make this Halloween spooktacular by showing kindness and respect to our neighbours.

🕯️ Some of our elderly or vulnerable neighbours may find unexpected knocks or loud noises distressing.
🚪 Please look out for “No Trick or Treat” signs and respect homes that prefer a quiet night.
🧛🏼Encourage children to be polite, stay safe, and spread smiles — not scares!

A little kindness goes a long way in making sure everyone feels safe and included in our community. 💛
