“What ya doing?”
🤣🤣 “Getting some rocks to do my exercises”

I do the same 4 exercises every morning (most mornings, even when on holiday😁). Does it make a difference? I don’t know. Some days I doubt it. But I’m always proud of myself for doing it! Even though it’s often a mental battle. I don’t beat myself up if I miss a day.
I have people who have come to my classes for ten years, plus. And I think they’re incredible. They are consistent. I try hard to be consistent. Just like them.

I know my goal is to be pain free and have good mobility. To not need walking aids, to avoid any hip replacements. So I’ll keep going! I’ll keep going with my daily 4. But this month I’m adding in a new habit. I’ll let you know once it’s become consistent!

If you get up early and like to get moving before the day starts properly and you’re dragged in all directions. I’m running an online class on a Thursday morning for 40mins. Starting at 6.30am. And if you don’t like getting up early and moving then I get it 😄😄 maybe give it a try and see 😘

4 ladies walk in to my house, armed with a plethora of gardening tools and set to work. (I do know them, they’ve been coming to my classes since 2013). Bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting. Pilates in motion 😃 very humbling and inspiring. And what’s more my garden is looking better then ever 😄

If you want them to, classes can build friendships and community. We have a shared purpose—a shared goal or vision. Maybe for some it’s chasing that goddess-style body, for others it’s being able to do a cartwheel without pulling a hamstring, or maybe just surviving the week without back pain. Whatever your vision, we show up every week.
Sometimes groaning and moaning through the session (yes, I hear you). Sometimes wishing it was over, sometimes loving every sweaty minute. But the important thing is—you still come.
And here’s the wonderful byproduct of that shared purpose: friendships. If you’re not there, we notice. We want to know why. We’re a little nosy, yes—but only in the best way. We want the updates: how your husband’s scan went, how your daughter’s driving test went, and of course, whether that trip to Spain with the annoying [insert word] lived up to its dramatic potential. (We’re basically a support group in leggings/shorts.)
That’s what I love about my classes—the connection. It’s such a simple, underrated thing. We move together, but it’s so much more than just squats and stretches.
Once we’ve caught up, then we get moving. Staying strong and fit together, preventing some creaks and aches. Then we say our goodbyes and head back into our normal lives. Until next week. Always next time.
So join a class, any class. I love Pilates and yoga, but find the thing that works for you. Because the community you build by doing something together may feel small—but it’s absolutely priceless. (And bonus: you’ll always have people who truly understand your hatred of planks, teasers and roll ups.)

New class in Riding mill in Northumberland. Not everyone can manage a general class, but that shouldn’t stop you from moving, from maintaining strength, or from working on your balance. We either improve or decline as we age, nothing just stays the same. Work to maintain what you have ❤️

I’m a trained yoga teacher as well. I love it almost as much as I love Pilates. But Pilates has given me a clear understanding of how to move safely and efficiently not just in the class and on the mat, but in the real world too.
