Earlier this term, our Year 9 students dove deep into the wonders of our planet at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.🌍

From feeling the ground shake during a simulated magnitude 7 earthquake to witnessing some of history’s most powerful volcanic eruptions, the day was packed with hands-on learning and unforgettable experiences.

Highlights included:
✨ A fully immersive planetarium show, exploring space and the race to the Moon.

🌱 A 3D flight through Earth’s biomes – from icy deserts to lush rainforests.

🌋 An interactive workshop on tectonic plates, Pangaea, and super-volcanoes, where students worked in teams to make life-saving decisions during a Yellowstone eruption scenario!

Selena F (Y9) shared her experience: “The trip was fantastic because we looked at many things we don’t always see in school. My favourite part was the deep ocean room – it really helped me understand more about what we’ve learned in geography this term.”

Last week, to celebrate UK Parliament Week, Year 13 students from RGS Politics, Junior PolSoc, and RGS Debating came together for a Mock Prime Minister’s Questions.🗣️

Maria SP stepped into the role of Prime Minister, answering challenging questions from Opposition Leaders: Tanvi G (Conservative), Harman G (Reform), Nisna N (SNP), and Nicholas O (Lib Dems). Ayesha P kept the debate in order as Speaker, while Junior PolSoc contributed well-researched questions after exploring MPs and their constituencies.

❄️Winterwonderland 2025❄️

A HUGE thank you to everyone who joined our student-led festive fundraiser in support of Feeding Families, Gym Possible, RGS Bursaries, and Project Santa - so far we have raised £11k!

It was fantastic to see so many RGS families and members of our school community enjoy the seasonal celebrations in the Main RGS Sports Hall.

From our entrepreneurial Year 8 'Profit for Purpose' stalls featuring Christmas sweet treats and activities (including a few stalls where RGS teachers bravely faced a water-gun for charity!) to our RGS sports team's Christmas Tree Decoration competition - there was something for all of the family to enjoy!

Our Winter Wonderland Raffle runs until Monday, 15th December, so there's still time to enter for the chance to win our star prize - a 30th anniversary PlayStation bundle.👇
