Good as Gold is staffed in accordance with government standards. In the Baby Room we have provision for 12 babies (0-2) with a staffing ratio of 1:3. In the Toddler Suite we can cater for up to 37 children with a staffing ratio of 1:4 for 2 year olds, and 1:8 for 3 and 4 year olds. The Officer-in-Charge holds a BA(Hons) Degree in Early Years, and has also achieved Early Years Teacher Status. All Key Persons have attained level 3 qualifications in childcare, and all staff also hold First Aid qualifications and receive training in safeguarding children.

Today we laid our wreath at the war memorial. We read the names on the remembrance cross wooden tributes and the children said thank you to them all. Back at nursery we watched CBeebies "poppies" for our two minutes silence and listened to "The last Post." Whilst our children are only young, learning about Remembrance Day in an age appropriate way helps them to foster values such as respect, gratitude and the importance of community and learn about their history and the people who help to keep them safe.

Good as Gold is delighted to inform you that our amazing apprentice, Meadow, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Themis Inspire and Achieve Childcare and Teaching Apprentice of the Year Award! Meadow is an exceptional student and a great asset to our staff team. All the children love her too! The final judging will take place on Friday 28th November when Meadow will make a presentation to the panel of judges. Whatever happens next we are extremely proud of Meadow. The nomination was very much deserved and she would make a very worthy winner! Good Luck Meadow!

We had a spooktacular time at our Halloween party! We started the day with a ghost hunt and everyone had to find one big ghost and one little ghost. We loved shouting down the tunnels pretending to be ghosts and witches! Back at nursery we did the Skeleton Shake and The Creepy Crawl as well as lots of other party dances. After lunch of Witches Stew and Monster Goo Jelly, we practiced flying our broomsticks. (See previous post) We had squashed beetles and flies for snack then it was time for party games before tea of crunchy bats and ghosts and magic potion cake. There was time for a few more games before it was time to go home. We all got a party bag with a glow in the dark bracelet and ghost to take home help us be seen if we were going trick or treating after nursery. What a fun day! We all had the best time.

Halloween broomstick training!
The children practiced stopping and starting before taking to their brooms and trying to fly! Unless my eyes are deceiving me, it looks like that little cat at the front actually succeeded! That's magic!
