Once a family has chosen their preferred menu style, our next question is always about the person at the heart of the day.

What was their favourite meal?
What food instantly brings them to mind?

In this instance, the answer was Matilda Cake - a much-loved recipe shared by the family which we were able to recreate and give pride of place to on the day.

It became a lovely talking point among guests and, more importantly, we hope each slice brought back warm, happy memories of someone so dearly loved.

Sometimes, it’s the smallest (and sweetest) details that mean the most 🩶

Yesterday we had the honour of catering for a wake at the beautiful Prestbury W.I. Hall in Cheltenham - the perfect setting to celebrate the life of one of its long-standing and much-loved members.

Usually the ones behind the scenes providing the catering, the W.I. ladies were, for once, able to simply be present - sharing memories and supporting the family as friends. With many bowls players and the local church congregation attending too, the hall was filled with warmth, stories and reflection of a very special lady.

Our thanks to the family for trusting us with the whole set up, Prestbury W.I. for letting us use their fabulous kitchen facilities and everyone who attended for being so welcoming. It was a privilege to play our part in such a meaningful occasion 🩶

We are often overwhelmed by the level of trust people place in us.

Catering for a funeral is very different from catering for a joyous occasion like a wedding. To be asked to support families during what is often one of the saddest moments of their lives - especially if we’ve got to know them through happier celebrations - means more to us than words can say.

It’s a responsibility we never take lightly, and one we approach with the utmost care and respect.
