A quick reminder that the Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) service will take their final phone requests for repeat prescriptions from Wellington Road Surgery patients on Friday 7th November, until 4pm.

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions from this time are:

For anyone unable to use online methods, you can hand in your prescription request over the desk at the surgery.

Dear Patients,

Thank you for your ongoing support. We want to let you know about a new, easier way to contact us with medical or administrative queries.
Starting Wednesday, 12th November 2025, you’ll be able to use an online request form. This will help us respond more quickly and make sure you see the right clinician.

Here’s how it works:
• You can fill out a short form using the NHS App or our practice website. https://www.wellingtonroadsurgery.co.uk/
• The form goes straight to our triage team (led by experienced GPs)
• The practice team will consider your request for an appointment or medical advice and notify you within one working day what will happen next.
• It saves you from waiting in long phone queues and can be submitted before we even open.

This system is:
• Quick and easy – You may get a prescription or advice by text, without needing to come in.
• Efficient – urgent or complex problems will still be seen quickly in person, and routine problems will be booked as usual, with your GP preference.
We know change can be worrying, but the same trusted team is still reviewing every request– just in a more effective way. This will help us:
• Reduce waiting times
• Improve continuity with your doctor
• Provide better care overall

If you can’t use the online form:
• A family member or carer can fill it out for you.
• Or you can still call or visit reception, and a staff member will help complete the form for you.

We kindly ask that if you can use the online form, please do. This helps us keep phone lines free for patients who really need to speak to us. If you opt to ring reception when you could have used the form, someone might lose their only way of getting the help they need.

We’re making these changes so we can continue to provide the best care possible. We’ll keep reviewing how it’s working and welcome your feedback.

💉 Walk-in Flu Clinic 16th October 💉

Please be advised that the practice will be closed on Thursday, 16th October, from 1:00 pm for staff training.

We will re-open from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm for a walk-in flu vaccination clinic for eligible patients.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:
- live with someone who has a weakened immune system
- are aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2026)
- have certain long-term health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes
- are pregnant
- live in a care home
- are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance

The NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin (STW) is phasing out the Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) service by the end of November.

The last day for our patients to order prescriptions through the POD will be Friday, 7th November.

❗Staff Training Notice & Evening Flu Clinic❗
The surgery will be closed for staff training on Thursday 16th October from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
If you need medical advice or treatment while we are closed, please call NHS 111.
For life-threatening emergencies, call 999 immediately.

💉 Evening Flu Clinic 💉
We will re-open from 5:00pm to 6:30pm on Thursday 16th October for a walk-in flu clinic for all eligible patients.

The surgery will re-open as usual on Friday 17th October.

In September, 98% of patients attended their appointments!
We still see a high volume of appointments being missed. When you fail to inform us that you cannot attend an appointment, it prevents another patient from receiving care.
