Today at Solent Grange it's been all about India and the lounge has been decorated accordingly.

Residents began by watching a beautiful documentary showing us all the colourful sights across the whole of India.

We listened to some relaxing Sitar music, whilst colouring some Sari's 🥻

We also enjoyed watching some traditional Indian dancing on TV

One of our residents enthusiastically shared stories of her childhood growing up in India in Darjeeling.

Our chef made some wonderful Indian cuisine for us to enjoy at lunchtime.

We drank plenty of tea ☕ naturally 😊

We talked about the culture and some fascinating facts.

There was even an Indian themed quiz too.

It's been a most enjoyable day.

Many thanks to Debbie from Independent Arts for a lovely afternoon of Arts and Crafts.

As you can see we have been working on some Christmas decorations 🎄

It won't be long until the trees go up here at Solent Grange, and when they do we will have some beautiful baubles to hang ❤️

Today of course is remembrance day.

We gathered together at 11.00 in the lounge to observe the two minutes silence.

After some time of quiet reflection Annette, Gladys and Gay came to Newport with us.

We went to see the memorial and look at the poppy displays and wreaths that had been left in tribute.

We also had time to look around the church.

We finished our morning with coffee and lunch at Grace's bakery.

Thank you to Leah for making this trip possible. The residents really appreciated being able to pay their respects.

We have continued our journey around the world today & are now in Spain 😍 We enjoyed looking at famous landmarks & colouring Spanish flags this morning. Lunch was a choice of Spanish chicken with chorizo or Spanish tortilla followed by crema catalana 😋 This afternoon we watched a documentary about Spanish culture, had a quiz and enjoyed listening to Spanish traditional music. 🇪🇸

The match report from this afternoons big game here at Solent Grange.

Today the Red team of Ann, Peter H, Roger and Denis took on the Green team of Annette, Josie, Mavis and Jeremy.

The first period was a classic 8 - 8 tie.

In the second period the Red team edged ahead and were up 18 goals to 14.

The final period red surged further ahead to win.
Final score 27 to 18 to the Red team.

The most important thing is that the residents thoroughly enjoyed the contest. It was a brilliant afternoon of fun and we shall definitely play again 🏒 🏒 🏒 🏒

My 2 stars of the games were both from the Green team.

Annette for scoring the most goals, and Josie for an incredible display of Goaltending. She kept the score respectable and never gave up ❤️

Friday the 14th November is children in need day, we will be holding a cake sale from 11am so please do come along and support, and if you would like to bake any yummy goods for our bake sale, that would be most welcomed too :)
