Haunted by Healing: What Phobias Teach Us at Halloween
This Halloween, I’m thinking about fear—not the kind wrapped in cobwebs or lurking in haunted houses, but the quiet kind that lives in our bodies, our stories, our nervous systems.
In my latest blog, I explore how phobias—those deeply personal fears—can become portals to healing and transformation. As someone who’s worked in mental health for over 30 years, I’ve seen how fear, when met with compassion and curiosity, can shift from paralysis to possibility.
Halloween reminds us that fear can be playful, symbolic, even communal. But what if we treated our real fears with the same creativity? What if we allowed them to speak, to guide, to heal?
Fear isn’t the enemy. It’s a messenger. And sometimes, it’s the very thing that leads us back to our power. If you or someone you care about is navigating phobias or anxiety, this blog might offer a gentle reframe—and a reminder that healing doesn’t have to be scary.
