Over the past month I’ve been diving deeper into something I’ve wanted to study for a long time… sports psychology 🌊🧠

I started a course in January and it’s been such an eye‑opening experience already. It’s helping me build on my background in surf confidence, psychotherapy and mental wellbeing, while learning how to better support competition surfers and athletes who want to perform at their best.

I’ve loved exploring all of the factors that influence an individuals performance, and it’s really expanding how I can serve the surf and sports community.

I’m currently working with an amazing athlete as my case study, supporting them in the lead‑up to competition, and I’m opening up a limited number of 1:1 sports psychology support sessions at a discounted rate while I’m starting out in this space.

There are still a few spaces left for my upcoming Surf Confidence Workshop on Saturday 1st March, 10am–12pm at in Perranporth!

Whether you surf, bodyboard, swim, or just love being in the ocean, this morning is all about reconnecting with your confidence in the water. We’ll explore how to stay calm and present, rebuild trust after wipeouts or accidents, and shift fear into curiosity and ease.

Expect open surf chats, self‑reflection exercises, and practical tools (like breathing, mindset, and visualisation techniques) designed to help you feel more grounded, joyful, and supported in your ocean journey. 🌤️

It’s also a chance to meet like‑minded water lovers and share stories in a really warm, relaxed space 💙

Fear in the surf is not proof that you are weak or not a ‘good’ surfer. It’s your nervous system trying to keep you safe with the tools it has.

When you learn to decode those signals, you can respond with intention instead of panic.

Winning in a surf session is not always about how many waves you catch or how “good” you surf.​

Sometimes the real win is noticing frustration bubbling up and actively choosing to let it go.

The other day I did not catch many waves at all – past me would have gone home annoyed, getting completely caught up in negative thinking.​

But using the same mindset tools and nervous system techniques I teach, I could feel the frustration, let it move through, and drop back into actually enjoying being out there.​

My inner dialogue was kinder, and that shift is my win.​
