Fitness - what is it to you?

It’s different for everyone. I’m talking not just Physical but Emotional, Mental…

For me being strong, capable and resilient isn’t something that’s optional. It’s necessity.

Moving won’t ever not happen - it’s not if we move but how we move 🤸🏼

Here’s some stuff I’ve learnt over the years… a bit of Calisthenics, Budokon, Mobility, Primal, Functional 🦧

I made a deal with myself at the start of winter that this year I’d be on it whenever there was swell 🌊

It’s been absolutely awesome!

I’ve been having a blast, specifically at North Fistral and some other locations.

Surfing is one of those things where it’s impossible to see how you’re doing without pictures and videos—that makes it super hard to improve.

Luckily I’ve got Base’s Rob and Lou + Marie 📸 helping me progress with videos, pictures, and analysis.

Getting coaching at my level was exactly what I needed!

At the end of Winter 2026, i’m chuffed with the progression I’ve made just from one winter of consistency in Cornwall.

I’m super excited for spring and summer and getting back on a Log/Middy!

Are you relatively strong? 💪🏼

There’s a few things I like to be fit for:

1. Life - easier when you’re strong, mobile & resilient 🧜🏼‍♂️

2. Cali - Push Ups, Pull Ups, Squats, Lunges… = Basic Foundational Movement Movements - you’re an Ape 🦧

3. Surfing - unstable piece of foam in water requires stability, strength and mobility 🏄🏼‍♂️

4. BJJ - strength at range, resilience, body awareness 🥷🏼

5. Mental/Physical/Emotional State - work on your Body as it creates discipline/devotion and will help with purpose - life cleans up when we internally clean up🧘🏼

Cali & Movement is simple and anyone can start - knowing you can lift yourself up is seriously empowering 🐉

Winter can feel like a slog... ❄️

But I reckon winter in Cornwall is what you make of it 🧜🏼‍♂️

For me, It’s a time to take stock, hone the blades and come out ready for spring…

There are diamonds in the rough if you know where to look - so much right on the doorstep 💎

I like to focus on my wellness routine in winter.

This year I’ve been back lifting heavy, which feels amazing - working back up to 160kg deadlifts. I’m also meditating heaps again, reading, hitting the infrared sauna at Saunassa regularly, walking on country with m’lady (my favourite) and training hard 🗡️

Shiva Calisthenics is pumping. In 1:1s and classes, we’re getting great results and having heaps of fun! 🦧

Clients are happy with the results they’ve been working hard for too - that’s always good 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻

SɅLɅ is reopening and the nights are getting longer... f**kin’ oathhhh! Yeah - we’re frothin’ 🤙🏻

One of my FAVE Skills…

I like to flow between things when I do Calisthenics 🌊

This is what some of the more advanced crew at Shiva have been learning on Saturdays 📈

These help with building transition, muscle up and lever strength 💪🏼

3 seperate Ring Muscle Ups have been unlocked lately in classes 😱

So stoked for everyone who’s getting stuck in at all levels… with Calisthenics there’s always a Progression you can do 👊🏻

1. Strict Ring Lever - Muscle Up
2. Banded Lever - Muscle Up
3. Ring Inverted Deadlift
4. Bar Inverted Deadlift

I put these up so people from classes and 1:1’s can have something to reference 🤙🏻

Here’s some Calisthenics Specific Skill Conditioning…

Today I worked the Ring Muscle Up - I broke down the Muscle Up into its parts and
trained them like this.

I chose these because they have HUGE bang for buck; in terms of compound upper body engagement and are ace for bulletproofing.

This is so I get a MASSIVE “Imposed Demand” that my body has to adapt to.
(SAID Principle)

Moves:
Muscle Up - Skill
Transition Rows
FG Pull Ups
Bulgarian Dips
Dips+
Halo Pull Ups
FG L Sit Holds
FG Rows
Stretch AF

Strength and Conditioning for Skills is important. So is Technique but if there’s no Strength - how are you gonna practice the Technique? Get Strong.

SɅLɅ is open again in February; have your own space and place to move…

Deadlift - 140KG
RDL’s - 100KG
Ring Muscle Up
Front Squat - 80KG
HSPU
FS KOT Squats - 40KG
Zerch. Jefferson - 40KG
KOT Step Ups
Venison Haunch
Yogurt, Tahini, Mango, Berries, Honey.

With what I’ve done most of the last few years being Calisthenics and Surfing, my Legs/Hips didn’t get seen to as much as they should’ve done.

I got interested in reading about Trunk/Leg Strength and Mobility for Longevity, Surfing, Barefoot Running and then started BJJ….

Now I’m hooked on hitting Legs + Mobility at the moment. Winter Arc is in full effect! ❄️

Wintering Begins…

We’re locking in here at SΛLΛ 🥷🏼

What Winter for me is looking like has begun to land… there’ll be lots of nourishing meals, slow cooks, walks and nature time - amongst all the athletic activity 🧜🏼‍♂️

Calisthenics Classes are absolutely pumping at Shiva, with a range of classes to suit all abilities! They’ve even had to add another class 😱

I’ll be coaching bespoke 1:1’s there for winter… so if you’re thinking about getting started and/or wanting to take your Calisthenics/Movement to a new level; that’s where I’ll be 🧘🏼

Working with Base over Summer has undoubtedly impacted me the most, realising even more deeply just how much Movement capacity directly impacts Surfing! Have learnt so much coaching for these guys 🤝

As always: I’m frothing on being a White Belt in a different discipline - that’s what I’ll be dialling in on over Winter, as well as more wave time too…

Receiving messages everyday from current and past-clients, expressing their joy in their achievements, lights me up! 💡

Enjoying exploration of Multi-Planar Movement for sports and lifestyle that keeps me Frothin 🤙🏻

Everything I enjoy for Hobbies requires that I be able to Move in a multitude of ways…

These are some I’ve leant on massively through summer. I used these to stay strong for coaching, surfing, living and greasing the groove 💃🏼

Can get a lot done with some Rings and a Pink Fluffy KettleBell by 🐶
