My Weekend with Wayne 💃🏻
There is a dancer in all of us.
exhibitions at were mind-blowing.
Illuminated dancers – choregraphed by the bioluminescent of movement. It reminded me of watching the bioluminescence I saw at the Helford River some years ago. But in human form.
Illustrative of both the magic and mystery of the human body in motion. Dancers demonstrate the fullness of movement expression, even just watching it, it makes you feel alive. Waynes Infinite Bodies exhibition – tapped into this mystery, his virtuosic vision weaved into artificial intelligence.
I am not a professional dancer, but I wish I was. I think it’s the freedom of movement that aspires us. We can almost imagine how it feels to leap across a stage, to glide effortlessly, without restrain of life. We unshackle ourselves occasionally at weddings. Wine and joy tapping down our usual barriers of movement inhibition.
Movement is freedom. That’s why we feel so good after a dance, a run a walk. It is where we find ourselves time and time again. A place where we also lose ourselves. Away from judgement and the micromanagement of cultural expectations. I always go to a dance class when I am in London. I love it.
The interface of dance and artificial intelligence was a stark reminder of where the human is heading, but also a reminder of the untouchable essence of our existence.
Nothing can truly replace the felt experience of life. Archived in our three-dimensional bodies is our life lived, our sensorial experience of life – forever ours.
I also got to hear him talk, promoting his book (We are Movement) and also meet him.
He is the essence of his life-work. An Incredible human 🙏
