Talking to both a loved one and a counsellor can be highly effective together, but understanding the differences in what each type of support offers can help provide clarity 💙

This , the Counselling Directory is highlighting social masking. Social masking can involve changing how you speak, forcing eye contact, mirroring others’ behaviour, or hiding natural responses in order to fit in with social expectations.

While this can help people navigate social situations, doing it consistently can be exhausting and may contribute to burnout and mental health challenges. By talking about masking, we hope to build greater understanding and create spaces where neurodivergent people feel safe to be themselves. 🫶
