Lee Opticians was established in 1946. Both practices offer a full range of services including eye examinations, sore eye consultations, contact lens fitting, spectacles ranging from budget to designer, low visual aids, sports eyewear, safety eyewear and sunglasses. At our Warrenpoint practice, we specialise in School Vision and Orthoscopics which are assessments identifying the importance of a child's vision in education and helping patients with dyslexia and other visual perception difficulties. Our Director, Michael Gilsenan, recently won an award from the Association of Optometrists for Dispensing Optician of the Year in recognition of his work across the province promoting the importance of eye health especially with regard to children. The first set of opening hours above apply to Warrenpoint and the second set apply to Crossmaglen.

February is age-related macular degeneration (AMD) Awareness Month. 👁

AMD is a common condition in older people that causes changes to the macula, effecting the centre part of your vision. AMD can make things like reading, watching TV, driving or recognising faces difficult.

The type of treatment depends on the stage and the type of AMD you have.
If you notice any sudden changes in your vision it is important to get this checked.

Glaucoma Awareness Month 👁

Glaucoma is an eye condition that causes loss of vision, or reduced vision, if it is not detected and treated early enough. Glaucoma can usually be detected during an eye test, often before it causes any noticeable symptoms.
