Harshness, criticism or shame towards yourself may be an inheritance received from family, teachers, school bullies or other authority figure from your past.

It can also be from unhealthy current personal, family or work relationships.

Ever notice how a child's behaviour can push your buttons—fast?

When adults feel triggered by a child’s actions, it’s often our own stress response kicking in. We might raise our voice, rush to control the situation, or take things personally—without meaning to.

But the truth is:

✨ A dysregulated adult cannot regulate a child. ✨

This free printable poster explores common adult reactions under stress—and more importantly, what helps instead.

💬 Learn to shift from reacting to responding
💛 Replace control with connection
🧠 Understand that behaviour is communication, not defiance
🌱 Support starts with the adult, not just the child

Christmas & New Year’s can be challenging for many. If you’re concerned about any man in your life, listen to your gut & speak to them.

Bringing up concerns & fears won’t plant negative seeds but may help them to open up.

People who come to expecting others to change usually don’t stay too long or have a challenging initial experience of therapy.

People who stay for an appropriate period of time begin to realise that knowing more about their behaviours, reactions to others, beliefs, emotions, motivations & drives helps them to change. This self awareness can make a substantial difference & improves your mental health & relationships.

For Grief

When you lose someone you love,
Your life becomes strange,
The ground beneath you gets fragile,
Your thoughts make your eyes unsure;
And some dead echo
drags your voice down
Where words have no confidence.

Your heart has broken heavy with loss;
And though this loss has
wounded others too,
No one knows
what has been taken from you
When the silence of absence deepens.

Flickers of guilt kindle regret
For all that was left unsaid or undone.

There are days
when you wake up happy;
Again inside the fullness of life,
Until the moment breaks
And you are thrown back
Onto the black tide of loss.

Days when you have your heart back,
You are able to function well
Until in the middle of work or encounter,
Suddenly with no warning,
You are ambushed by grief.

It becomes hard to trust yourself.
All you can depend on now is that
Sorrow will remain faithful to itself.
More than you, it know its way
And will find the right time
To pull and pull the rope of grief
Until that coiled hill of tears
Has reduced to its last drop.

Gradually, you will learn acquaintance
With the invisible form of your departed;
And when the work of grief is done,
The wound of loss will heal
And you will have learned
To wean your eyes
From that gap in the air
And be able to enter the hearth
In your soul where your loved one
Has awaited your return
All the time.

As we come to the end of 2025, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone across our community who chose to engage with our counselling services throughout the year.

We are deeply grateful to all individuals who placed their trust in our professionalism and care while navigating personal, family, relationship, and workplace challenges. We were also privileged to support those who reached out to us during times of crisis, often at particularly vulnerable moments in their lives.

We would also like to thank the local organisations—across business, charitable, and community sectors—who engaged our services to provide counselling support to their employees and members. Your confidence in our work has been greatly valued.

Over the past year, our small social enterprise delivered more than 1,500 individual counselling sessions and therapeutic interventions.

We are especially proud to have increased access to counselling by providing 278 free and low-cost sessions to the wider public.

This would not have been possible without the generosity of grants from funders, private donations, and our fee-paying clients, whose support directly enabled this achievement.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to delivering accessible, high-quality counselling and hope to continue working alongside our community in the year to come.

The services will close from Monday 22nd December and reopen on the 5th January. Any new web, email or phone enquiries will be responded to on our return.
