March 2017 is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Ovarian cancer can be devastating. Far too many women are diagnosed too late, once the cancer has already spread, making treatment more difficult. When a woman is diagnosed at the earliest stage, her chance of surviving ovarian cancer for five years or more doubles from just 46 per cent to more than 90 per cent. With your support, we can get more women diagnosed sooner and save lives.

Let’s Start Making Noise this Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month!!

By not drinking enough water, our bodies can become dehydrated and this can cause a lot of health problems.

Symptoms of dehydration:

Dehydration can be mild, moderate or severe, depending on how much of your body weight is lost through fluids.

Two early signs of dehydration are thirst and dark-coloured urine. This is the body's way of trying to increase water intake and decrease water loss.

Other symptoms may include:

•Dizziness or light-headedness

•Headache

•Tiredness

•Dry mouth, lips and eyes

•Passing small amounts of urine infrequently (less than three or four times a day)

Dehydration can also lead to a loss of strength and stamina. It's a main cause of heat exhaustion.

You should be able to reverse dehydration at this stage by drinking more fluids.

If dehydration is ongoing (chronic), it can affect your kidney function and increase the risk of kidney stones. It can also lead to muscle damage and constipation.

Don't drink enough water? Feeling degydrated and weak? A common recommendation is to drink six or eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day. Drinking water can be hard for some, however there are quite a few ways in which we can drink it.

1. Add fruit to your water
2. Drink a glass after every bathroom break
3. Sip a glass before every meal
4. Use an app to track your water intake
5. Add some sugar-free dilute to your water
6. Keep a gallon jug nearby
7. Invest in a filter
8. Choose sparkling or mineral water over soda
9. Use a straw
10. Do a water drinking daily challenge

Why should I drink water? What benefits will it have on my body?

1. Increases Energy & Relieves Fatigue
Since your brain is mostly water, drinking it helps you think, focus and concentrate better and become more alert. As an added bonus, your energy levels are also boosted!

2. Promotes Weight Loss
Removes by-products of fat, reduces eating intake (by filling up your tummy if consumed prior to meals), reduces hunger and raises your metabolism! What more could you ask for with zero calories!!

3. Flushes Out Toxins
Water gets rid of waste through sweat and urination which reduces the risk of kidney stones and UTI’s (urinary tract infections).

4. Improves Skin Complexion
Moisturizes your skin, keeps it fresh, soft, glowing and smooth. It also has be proven to get rid of wrinkles. It’s the best anti-aging treatment around!

5. Maintains Regularity
Aids in digestion as water is essential to digest your food and prevents constipation.

6. Boosts Immune System
A water guzzler is less likely to get sick. And who wouldn’t rather feel healthy the majority of the time? Drinking plenty of water helps fight against flu, cancer and other ailments like heart attacks.

7. Natural Headache Remedy
Helps relieve and prevent headaches (migraines & back pains too!) which are commonly caused by dehydration.

8. Prevents Cramps & Sprains
Proper hydration helps keep joints lubricated and muscles more elastic so joint pain is less likely.

9. Puts You In A Good Mood
When the body is functioning at its best, you will feel great and be happy!

10. Save Money!
Water is FREE! Even if you choose bottled/filtered water, it’s STILL cheaper than that high sugar and fat-filled latte!
