Today was all about colour & anticipation. As the springtime begins with the clocks moving forward, and daylight returns, the Hello Karma hub was feeling joyful today, and we loved meeting so many brilliant women and girls with some great conversation. Happy springtime everyone.

As we prepare to open the stage to our Glitter & Grit Talks at the Hello Karma Store we’re looking for ordinary girls and women with a story to tell who would like to open a conversation with other women. Any subject - your health, your hobby, your family life, your work, your pets, your happiness, sadness, pain or joy. The stage is yours and you could make a connection with other women like you, or use your experience or wisdom to protect or inspire others. You don’t have to be a public speaker or super confident, or have a script or slideshow! Just a love of cake, natter and friendship. Perimenopause is one of the three stages of menopause. It’s when menopause symptoms start but your periods haven’t stopped.

For many women, these symptoms can affect daily life – from energy and mood to relationships and work.

They can also start earlier for some, which is why recognising the signs and getting support matters.

Menopause will now be part of routine NHS health checks – offered every 5 years to eligible adults aged 40 to 74 – for the first time. By including tailored questions about menopause, more women will be able to get the support they need to manage their symptoms.

This week is a big one for one of our most dedicated volunteers, Derek. After years of attempts to join the London Marathon, he decided to set his sights on a higher ambition… and this Tuesday he begins an adventure to fly out to Slovenia for a 26 mile marathon across Ljubljana in aid of Wellbeing in Action.

Running has been a lifeline to Derek and despite some difficult times recently, he will be pushing his endurance in honour of his friend who sadly passed away last week. It takes determination, focus and courage to push on through adversity, and many can’t find this in a dark place, let alone face the anxiety of travelling to an unknown country, dealing with language barriers and going entirely solo.
