Teign Angels

Teign Angels No asterisks, no gimmicks, just care as it should be

Our story began in October 2016, and has been built with our ethos of providing 'the gold standard' of truly person-centred care at the heart of it. We are proud to provide a service that changes the lives of adults across Newton Abbot and its surrounding areas.

There are significant delays on the roads around Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton today due to the effects of the overnight storm. In particular, the A381 Besigheim Way is the only way to move between Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton, resulting in excess traffic as well as the usual amount of traffic at the Penn Inn roundabout.

With the pre-existing ongoing works in Newton Abbot, particularly the road closure on the A382 Bovey Tracey Road, the temporary traffic lights on the A383 Ashburton Road, and the temporary traffic lights on the A381 at the Ogwell Cross roundabout, it is leading to severe traffic delays.

We are working to get to everyone we support as close to the scheduled visit times as possible, but where there are significant delays, we will keep people updated 🌷

Still considering your New Year's resolutions? What about considering naming a legacy contact on your social media profiles?

Whilst not all platforms provide this feature, many do - including Facebook! A legacy contact will be able to manage your social media account after you die. So why not consider naming someone, and making sure they know what you want to happen to your account when you die?

Home in record time ⏱️

In this week's good news, we talk about how we supported a people return home from hospital in record time - meaning they could get back to the place they wanted to be, and we could help to relieve some pressure at the hospital.

'The NHS and social care are sisters, and one cannot operate without the other' says Joseph, our Office Manager.

Have you read our blog post, in conversation with our most recent work placement student?

We sat down with Charley at the end of her placement last month, to talk about her experience and what she's taking away from her time with Teign Angels.

We're one week into 2026, and we thought we'd have a look back over our 2025 at Teign Angels.

We provided just under 16,000 hours of care and support last year, and welcomed 14 new people to our service!

By optimising our rotas, we reduced our carbon emissions by around 3.5 tonnes - just by reducing the distances our team has to travel!

We welcomed two new wonderful Angels to our team, and we wished one a very happy retirement!

We welcomed two work placement students from College!

And we were rated 'excellent' by people we support, without exception!

2025 has been another special year. We continue to have the utter pleasure and privilege to support some incredible people in and around Newton Abbot. From Ipplepen to Kingsteignton, Kingskerswell to Highwekk, Ogwell to Buckland and Milber, we get to visit and support some truly remarkable people!

Here's to 2026!

We mentioned last week that we'd be suggesting some New Year's resolutions, all to do with planning for the future.

Today's resolution is: take a moment to think about what information someone might need to manage your online accounts in the future - and how you'd want them to find it.

We want to wish lots of luck to Dawn, who is one of our directors. Dawn is currently in Birmingham, undertaking the practical element of her course to become a Foot Health Care Practitioner.

This will mean that, on completing the course, Dawn will be able to provide some basic treatments and toe nail cutting services to people we support.

Best of luck, Dawn!

🖊️Advance care planning blog series🖊️

Today's post in our series is all about digital legacies.

As our digital presence becomes as big as our physical presence, there are some important considerations for our future. It's not just social media - we can now request prescriptions, make transactions, buy birthday presents, watch movies, listen to our favourite songs, all online!

In this blog, we look at some questions about digital legacies:

ℹ️ How can we share important information with our loved ones, about our online accounts?

👥 Who will manage and monitor our social media accounts when we die?

📜 Why should we order more than one copy of a loved one's death certificate?

We want to say a huge well done to our wonderful Angels, Hilary and Sarah, who recently found a member of the public had collapsed close to the home of someone we support. They administered emergency first aid and called an ambulance to help him.

We're glad to hear that the man has survived the ordeal and is on the road to recovery 🌷
