Teign Angels

Teign Angels No asterisks, no gimmicks, just care as it should be

Our story began in October 2016, and has been built with our ethos of providing 'the gold standard' of truly person-centred care at the heart of it. We are proud to provide a service that changes the lives of adults across Newton Abbot and its surrounding areas.

We've had some lovely feedback from a person we started supporting in September. In just under 2 months, we're pleased that they agree with what we know: that we have an incredible team here at Teign Angels 🌷

Remembrance Day 2025.

We remember all who served, and continue to serve, in the fight to protect the freedoms we hold dear today.

Service takes many forms. From frontlines to bedsides, extraordinary care has been given in times of conflict. Today, we honour soldiers of all ranks, as well as medics, nurses, and care staff who have given their lives for others, and who continue to serve and protect to this day.

The Herbert Protocol can be an invaluable piece of planning. We've supported a number of people to get it in place for themselves or their loved ones. We recommend having a look to see if the Herbert Protocol is right for you or someone you know 🌷

Talking about death and dying can be incredibly hard. Talking about it with children can sometimes feel even harder.

We now have a copy of 'Goodbye Mog' by Judith Kerr, for anyone we support or any of our team to borrow, to help open up conversations around death and dying with young children.

'Preparing children for a family member's death can be incredibly difficult. We hope that this book will help open up these important conversations, if people are finding it difficult to do otherwise' says Joseph, our Office Manager.

Anyone we support or any of our team who wants to borrow our copy of 'Goodbye Mog', contact our office and we'll arrange getting it out to you.

We're starting our next 6-monthly feedback cycle this month, running until the end of April.

We're currently looking at all the feedback we received in the previous 6-monthly cycle - we'll share it soon, but as a little preview...we were given top marks by everyone we support who responded to our survey 🌷

Did you know about our 'End of life hub' on our website? We know that the end of our lives can be incredibly fragile - we often have questions that we really struggle to find answers to.

Our hub brings together information from various organisations, such as Marie Curie, Parkinson's UK, Theos, and more. It covers a lot of topics, such as talking about death and dying with a person with a dementia; supporting children and young people after someone's death; and a video by Dr Kathryn Mannix and Theos Think Tank about what the normal dying process looks like.

The Greenhouse is a section of our website with lots of useful information. To view our End of Life Hub, as well as our Advance Care Planning hub (as well as more hubs that we're working on), go to www.teignangels.co.uk/greenhouse

Today, Teign Angels turns 9 years old!

We're so proud of everything we've achieved over the past few years, and of our incredible team - current and past.

We've written a blog on our website, all about our 9th anniversary - click here to read: https://teignangels.co.uk/teignangels9/

Did you know we run a free session called 'Intro to advance care planning' for schools and colleges?

Aimed at students who want to work in health & social care, this session provides an introductory look into what advance care planning is, how holistic it can be, and how to have conversations with people in our care about it.

Developed and delivered by our Office Manager, Joseph, who is also an End of Life Care Ambassador from Rowcroft Hospice's programme, the session aims to inspire students to pursue further training specific to their chosen careers in the future.

The sessions were created in response to multiple reports which show that a lack of knowledge and confidence amongst health and social care professionals still leads to missed opportunities for important conversations, as well as some wishes, choices, and decisions being ignored and overridden. It was also in response to the work of Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay Careers Hub in boosting employer engagement with schools and colleges.

If your school or college, or if you know someone whose school or college, might be interested in this free session, get in touch! We'd love to talk it through with you!
