We are getting very excited that our enclosed garden and decking has taken shape and is nearly complete, we are hoping the rain holds off for the final decking pieces to be laid soon - you will have noticed a few pumpkin feeders we’ve scattered around, following our successful Halloween pumpkin carving and crafting- this is to help feed the wildlife over these cold & wet winter days and we’ve certainly noticed an increase of squirrels leaping about already.

Lakeview residents were invited to attend the holy communion held at St Paul’s Church, Newton Abbot on Wednesday.
We were transported by Trip Travel based in Honiton which is a Community Transport Group run by volunteers and we can’t thank them enough for their time and care safely commuting us.

Our residents had a lovely time, socialising, singing, saying prayers and spending time out in the community, a couple of our residents were recognised by old friends and had great conversations of past times shared.
We then indulged in a light lunch together making new friends, followed by a cuppa before we headed home.
Great day out had by all. 😊

World Food Day was a big hit.

We had fun making our pizzas for world food day, simple but successful toppings they went down well.
We also tested our knowledge with a Uk food picture quiz and interesting facts around food produce and sustainability and agricultural productions then participated in a general knowledge food quiz.
We also talked about our own experiences of places we visited and the foods we’ve tried whilst away and tested ourselves on which Flags from around the world we recognise.
There were lots of empty plates and requests for seconds and even thirds. Some even tried things they had never eaten before and loved it so much they have requested it be added to our menu again.

Our ‘pop up’ shop has been out on the rounds for the first time, this has been a welcome addition for our residents, boosting their well-being and confidence along with independence.
This gives them a chance to treat themselves and uplifts their moods, providing a sense of individuality and pride too.

We had a wonderful few hours taking a long stroll around our area looking at the seasonal changes, collecting foliage for our Autumn wreath that we have now started and soaking in the scenery, whilst the sun was shining. We also challenged ourselves to some topic related wordsearches and crosswords.

We are getting very excited that our enclosed garden and decking is nearly complete, we can’t wait to be able to freely access the safe space and get busy enhancing the area with planters, eco-friendly nature nooks and beautiful ornaments.
