As Christians prepare for Easter in the period of lent, we want to make sure that we are able to offer all children who use the food bank an Easter egg (or Easter treat) - our food bank manager loves Creme Eggs!

If you're able to help us by donating an Easter egg or treat, we can accept donations at our shop in Buckland (open Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm) or at various donation points around Newton Abbot.

We'd love all donations to be with us by Friday 20th March so we can give them out in food parcels in the two weeks leading up to Easter.

Thank you for all of your support.

Are you passionate about assisting those who are struggling financially and the homeless and supporting them by providing essential items such as food and toiletries?

If so, you may be just who we're looking for to join our trustee board. We're looking for a brand new trustee to join our existing board to assist with leading and steering the charity to fulfil its aims.

The role is voluntary and unpaid, with flexible hours and may involve evening and weekend attendance at events and meetings. It also may involve travel and working from home.

For more information about the role, please see the full role advert on our website: https://www.thatfoodbank.com/vacancies

If you wish to talk about the role further, please get in contact.

If you're able to donate anything to us at the moment, we'd be grateful for donations of any of the following things. We know things are tough for lots of people at the moment, but any and all donations make a huge difference to our work in supporting residents across the Teignbridge District.

We have a number of collection points across Newton Abbot or you can drop them off directly to us at our shop in Buckland.

If you're not able to donate at the moment, please consider sharing our post as others may be able to donate.

Thank you to everyone who supports us!

Did you know that we offer home start packs to clients who have been living in temporary accommodation and are moving into permanent flats and houses or who may have fled difficult situations? As part of these packs, we try to offer small electrical appliances such as kettles, toasters, and microwaves.

If you have a spare one in clean and working condition, please consider donating it to the Foodbank. Please note that we can only accept donations of these items at our shop in Buckland. Alternatively, you could also buy a new item and drop it off too.

All second-hand items will be PAT tested by one of our trained volunteers before being included in a home start pack to ensure that they are electrically safe.

If you would like any more information, please get in touch.

Thank you for your continued support in all that we offer, and as always, please share our post to spread the word around!

Do you know where your nearest community fridge is?

Community fridges and larders offer surplus food for free to anyone in the community. They are run by local volunteers and can be found in many communities across the district.

Find your local fridge and either donate your surplus food, or pick up something that's going spare and prevent it going to waste.

Are you interested in taking part in a community cooking course?

We are offering a free community cooking course for a small number of people at the Cwtch Hub CIC on Union Street in Newton Abbot. The course will enable you to learn new cooking and baking skills as well as increase your confidence in the kitchen. It will also include a session on preserving food to make your ingredients last longer and reduce food waste.

If you're interested in taking part, please get in contact with us or the Cwtch Hub CIC.

For a lot of our clients it can be a struggle to afford all of the essentials, not just food. And being able to look (and smell!) your best is important, particularly if you're already feeling low and worrying about money.

That's why we try to provide toiletry and cleaning packs for those who need them, and there are a number of items that we are short of at the moment (see below).

If you can't donate at the moment, please consider sharing our post. Thank you!
