Walter C. Parson Funeral Directors

Walter C. Parson Funeral Directors Walter C. Parson Funeral Directors is a family business providing personal, professional and respectful funeral services across the South West Peninsula.

Newton Abbot Funeral Directors Walter C. Parson (incorporating Hugh Mills & Gaye) is a family business established in 1842. It has, either by inheritance or acquisition, remained in the family over seven generations. We strive to deliver a first class service, one which would only be acceptable to a member of our own family. We believe, maintaining this strong ethos through our staff and by training them to the highest standards of the profession, we are able to consistently deliver this service to our clients. Opened in 2009 and situated in the centre of town, our purpose built office has been thoughtfully transformed to provide a dedicated service chapel for 30 people, with customer parking beside the building. Our Newton Abbot office serves Newton Abbot, Bovey Tracey, Teignmouth, Dawlish and the surrounding areas.

🌟 We Are Hiring 🌟

📝 Transport Administrator (Maternity Cover)
📍 Plympton, Plymouth
🕛 40 hrs per week
💷 £28,008 per annum

Walter C. Parson is a family business established in 1842 which has remained in the family for seven generations. We strive to deliver a first class service, one which would only be acceptable to a member of our own family. We have a 12-month maternity cover vacancy for a Transport Administrator.

This role will be based at our Plympton branch, working full time 8.30am-5pm, Monday to Friday. We are seeking an exceptional candidate to oversee the maintenance and servicing of our fleet of 40 vehicles, which are predominantly BMW, Ford and Volkswagen. We are proud to be the only funeral director in the UK with a BMW funeral fleet, which includes three 7 Series hearses and 11 long wheelbase 7 Series limousines.

Working alongside the Transport Manager, you will be required to assist with various administrative tasks, including ordering uniform, administration of the On Call Rota and ensuring time sheets are completed accurately. You will be required to co-ordinate items required for funeral services, ensuring that hymn sheets, music and photograph slideshows are printed and tested ready for the day of the funeral. You will also be responsible for organising the collection and accurate recording of cremated remains.

You will need to have a good general understanding of cars and maintenance requirements. Strong communication skills are essential to ensure collaboration between our 12 offices and the transport, coffin workshop and embalming departments.

Our ideal candidate will be organised, methodical, well presented, trustworthy, courteous and polite, pay close attention to detail and be able to deal with people with empathy whilst at the same time having a smile on your face.

Previous experience in the transport industry would be an advantage.

If applying, please bear in mind that all of our branches have ‘Chapels of Rest’ facilities and you will come into contact with deceased people in our care.

For further information please visit www.wcpltd.com/jobs for an application form and detailed job description. Completed application forms should be returned through the website above by 4pm on Friday 20th March 2026, however applications will be reviewed as soon as we receive them.
