✨ Win of the Week ✨

This week, our win comes directly from the heart of one of our students. We recently asked:

“In your own words, please tell us the overall impact SENse has had on you and any areas you feel we can improve to provide the best experience for you?”

We regularly gather feedback from students, families, staff, and commissioners, using Ofsted-aligned questions to help us continually improve — and this was one of the questions we asked.

One student shared something that really moved us:

“helped me so much in life made me a better person not only at school but at home aswell… it showed me how a school can change your perspective on life.”

Hearing this from a young person truly means everything.
At SENse and The Hub, we work hard to offer not just education, but understanding, stability, and a place to grow — academically, emotionally, and personally.

Small steps, safe spaces, trusted adults, and personalised support… it all adds up to moments like this. ❤️

If you know a child or young person who may benefit from a setting built around their needs, strengths, and voice, please reach out. We’re here to help.

Anti-Bullying Week reminds us: too many children with SEN face bullying — and that must change.

We see, support, and deeply understand that children with SEN, especially those with learning differences, autism, or communication needs, are significantly more likely to be bullied than their peers.

📊 63% of young people with SEN aged 12–13 reported being bullied in the past year (GOV.UK)
💔 Up to 82% of children with learning difficulties said they’d been bullied — with 47% facing verbal abuse and 23% physical harm (SEN Magazine)

At The Hub in Newton Aycliffe, our mission is clear: to create safe, respectful spaces where every child is seen, heard, and understood — far away from the threat of exclusion or harm.

Here’s how we do that:
• Small groups and calm routines to help children feel emotionally grounded
• Trauma-informed practice — we respond rather than react
• Creative and sensory tools for expression beyond words
• A strengths-based team approach, led by the child’s voice

This Anti-Bullying Week, let’s stand together to end the silence.
Children with SEN aren’t asking for special treatment — they deserve the same dignity, belonging, and safety as every child. 💙

You’re not alone, and neither is your child.

🌟 Win of the Week! 🌟

Two young people who had lost faith in education are now beginning to reconnect and re-engage with the education after a prolonged period of absence - not because they were 'ready' but because we met them with understanding, flexibility and trust within the safety of their home environment, and at a pace that worked for them. This is a massive step forward for children and young people who have experienced neurodivergent burnout and overwhelm.

Our Outreach Programme offers bespoke, 1:1 support designed entirely around each young person, helping them reengage with education in a way and place that feels right for them.

We know that for some children, the traditional school environment simply doesn’t work, and that’s okay. Our tailored packages fit around the child, not the other way around. Every plan is as unique as the young person we’re supporting. 💛

If you know a child or young person who would benefit from this kind of compassionate, flexible support - our amazing outreach team are here to help.
