Cheese & Wine Afternoon Delight! 🧀🍷

What a fabulous time we had in the cinema room, coming together for a relaxing cheese and wine afternoon!

Huge thanks to our wonderful kitchen colleagues for setting the scene so beautifully

Isobel took the lead with flair, orchestrating the event with such joy, We were treated to a virtual concert that had everyone smiling, and Dennis brought the house down with a heartfelt rendition of My Way 💛

Moments like these remind us how special it is to share laughter, music, and good company!

From toe-tapping tunes to joyful stretches, singing, dancing and striking our best poses, our residents had an absolute blast keeping active and having fun. 🌟

Clare’s enthusiasm lights up the room and always brings out the best in everyone.

🌺🎨 Preparing for Remembrance Day at Mearns Care Home 🎨🌺

John, Catherine, Nessie and Nessie’s lovely daughter Elaine spent a wonderful afternoon in our café crafting poppies for our display. 🌸 We explored different creative techniques – from watercolour painting and cotton bud designs to collage art.

It was a truly special time filled with conversation, creativity and reflection, as we remembered those who went before us. ❤️

🌈 Intergenerational Connections 🌈

John and Amy had the pleasure of spending 1-to-1 time at Calderwood Nursery for their Grandparents Day event — and what a heart-warming morning it was!

From friendly chats to shared smiles (and of course a good cuppa!), it was a beautiful opportunity to connect across generations and build meaningful relationships.

We’re already looking forward to welcoming the children to our yoga session next week — a chance to stretch, breathe, and bond even more.

⛳️ Golf in Society Away Day! ⛳️

What a fantastic afternoon! Our residents were kindly invited by Golf in Society for a fun-filled day of putting, laughter and connection 💬😊

We were warmly welcomed with sandwiches, soup and tea/coffee on arrival followed by a tempting selection of sweets (some may have been tucked away for later! 😄🍬)

Alistair and Ian had a brilliant time enjoying the fresh air, great conversations and plenty of laughs. A huge congratulations to Ian who was awarded a medal for winning in his group! 🏅👏

The drive home was just as lovely - filled with reminiscing and singing songs together 🎶

A heartfelt thank you to our colleagues and the team at Golf in Society for making this such a memorable experience 💚

🍓🍒 Ladies’ Breakfast Club Mondays at Mearns House! 🍒🍓

Our residents enjoyed a delicious selection of pastries and fresh fruit, lovingly prepared by our talented kitchen colleagues.

We also spent time reading The Mearns Times, a thoughtful creation kindly put together by students from Castle High 📰

We truly cherish these intergenerational connections and all the joy, learning and laughter they bring 💞

🎆 Guy Fawkes Night at Mearns House 🎆

If we couldn’t go out to see the fireworks… we brought the sparkle to us!

Our lovely residents enjoyed a cosy and fun-filled afternoon complete with:
- A hot chocolate station
- Sweet treats galore
- S’more making
- Wonderful company

We even tuned into a Guy Fawkes documentary because every day’s a school day!

Our residents shared how much they learned and how fascinating it was. To top it all off, we ended the evening with a beautiful fireworks display right here at home.

A huge thank you to our amazing colleagues who made the day so special!

⚽️ Fitbaw at Mearns House! ⚽️

Mark led another brilliant Fitbaw class, and it was fantastic to see families joining in alongside our residents 💙

The energy was high, the smiles were wide, and the teamwork was inspiring! You can really see how everyone’s skills are developing week by week - every single person had a go at passing the ball before scoring a goal 🙌👏

🎃👻 Happy Halloween from Mearns House! 🧡✨

What a busy and brilliant day we had! Our morning started with a heart-warming visit from Calderwood Nursery – the children lit up the room with their adorable costumes and brought smiles to everyone’s faces. 🥺🎭

In the afternoon, our residents, families and friends from Kirkhill Gait Nursery joined us in the cinema room for a spook-tacular Halloween party! 🎉🕸️

There was singing, dancing, and a delicious spread lovingly prepared by our talented chefs. We even had a few games - maybe a bit too much fun with the doughnuts! 🍩

A huge congratulations to our maintenance colleague Scott and our wonderful carer Diane for winning Best Dressed - the effort from everyone was truly appreciated! 👏🧡
