Drop-in health checks coming to you aboard the Living Well Bus
Free health checks and wellbeing advice is just around the corner, as the Living Well Bus comes to St Helens Borough in August and September.

The Living Well Bus service, delivered by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, operates on a fully drop-in basis and provides health checks and wider wellbeing guidance at the heart of communities.

A range of services are available, including:
• Blood pressure checks
• Pulse checks
• Cholesterol checks
• Blood glucose checks
• BMI checks
• Direct referrals to talking therapies
The Living Well Bus also provides routine immunisations, including MMR – a highly effective and safe vaccine administered in two doses which is crucial for preventing highly contagious and deadly diseases like measles, for which cases are on the rise across the region.

Councillor Andy Bowden, St Helens Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care & Health, said:
"We're pleased to welcome the Living Well Bus back to St Helens Borough, giving residents free and easy access to a range of health and wellbeing services and checks that could improve their health and quality of life. These are small things like blood pressure and cholesterol checks – to routine immunisations like MMR that could make a significant and positive difference to your health.

“It’s especially important to make sure you're up to date with your MMR vaccination, as it protects you and those around you from serious diseases. So please come along – don't miss this easy opportunity to look after yourself, and your family's health."

The Living Well Bus will be in St Helens Borough on the dates listed below from 10:30am-4:00pm:
• Wednesday 6 August - Queens Park Health & Fitness, Boundary Road
• Thursday 14 August – St Helens town centre
• Wednesday 20 August – Newton-le-Willows Health & Fitness Centre
• Saturday 30 August – Sutton Leisure Centre, Elton Head Road
• Tuesday 2 September – Chester Lane Library, Chester Lane
• Wednesday 10 September – Moss Bank Children’s Centre, Kentmere Avenue
• Friday 19 September – Parr Children’s Centre, Ashtons Green Drive
• Thursday 25 September – Sutton Family Hub, Ellamsbridge Road

Devastating news.

No child in 2025 should die from measles, an entirely preventable infectious disease.

Just a few miles away, in Liverpool, where this tragedy occurred, MMR vaccine take up rates are only 73%.

*** There has been one confirmed case of Measles TODAY in St Helens ***

Please know that the vaccines offer superb protection and there is NO link between MMR and autism, despite what certain medical charlatans peddle.

If you are concerned, please drop us a message via our website or arrange an appointment with one of our nurses.

We are excited to introduce you to our Family Hubs, where we offer extensive services and support structures, including both prenatal and postnatal programmes and events, aimed at supporting expectant parents and new families.

As healthcare professionals, we all play a vital role in nurturing the wellbeing of families from the very start of their journey. Our programmes are designed to ensure that every family feels supported, informed, and empowered.

Baby Showers
Our Baby Shower events provide a relaxed and welcoming environment for expectant parents. These sessions offer practical information on newborn preparation and care, along with much-needed emotional support. In addition, the gatherings foster a sense of community by encouraging the sharing of experiences, building connections, and establishing early community links among families.

Pregnancy and Beyond Programme
This six-week programme is a holistic journey tailored to meet the evolving needs of families from pregnancy through to the early years of parenthood. The course includes:
• Antenatal Education: Covering essential topics that prepare parents for the changes ahead.
• Choices During Labour and Birth: Providing comprehensive information to help parents make informed decisions during childbirth.
• Emotional Wellbeing: Offering guidance and practices to support mental health during this transformative period.
• Infant Feeding: Sharing practical advice and expert insights on various feeding options.
• Understanding Your Baby: Outlining developmental milestones and providing tips for nurturing your child’s early growth.
• Safe Sleep: Ensuring parents have the knowledge to create safe sleep environments.
• Home Safety: Offering a checklist of measures to maintain a secure home for the new arrival.
