This week, Newtown Medical Practice proudly took part in Christmas Jumper Day! 🎄✨
This year, we were delighted to support the Newtown Salvation Army by donating food to help families in our community this Christmas.

A huge thank-you to everyone who contributed — your generosity will make a real difference. ❤️

Masks now mandatory when visiting our hospitals.

As we move through the winter months, we are seeing a sharp increase in respiratory illnesses, including colds, flu and other winter viruses, as well as cases of diarrhoea and vomiting in our community.

To help protect our patients, visitors, and staff, masks are mandatory when visiting our hospitals effective immediately.

We understand how important it is to see your loved ones, but by staying home if you're unwell, you are helping to reduce the spread of infections and protect those who are most at risk.

If you are eligible for flu, COVID-19 or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccination this winter, please attend your appointment. Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you from serious illness.

Thank you for helping to protect our patients and our community this winter.

🚨 New Feature in the NHS Wales App – Now Live! 🚨

From 31st October 2025, patients awaiting secondary care outpatient appointments can now see more of their journey in the NHS Wales App.

This new feature allows patients to:
✅ See when they’ve been added to a hospital waiting list
✅ View upcoming hospital appointment details
✅ Access links to typical waiting times and advice on staying well while they wait
✅ Find contact info for their local Health Board if they need to request a change or cancellation

Important:
❌ This does not include GP-held information or primary care appointments.
❌ Patients cannot change or cancel appointments directly in the App—they’ll be guided to contact the appropriate Health Board team.
❌ Referrals made entirely within English NHS systems won’t appear.

Who can use this feature:
• Patients registered with a Welsh GP and using the NHS Wales App
• Those with a referral or first outpatient appointment in an NHS Wales secondary care system (WPAS or C&V PMS) from 31st October 2025 onwards
