Nia and Fran visited the specialist provision in Crossgates Primary School this week where they saw a fantastic example of how important it is to embed visual support to help children understand what is happening next in their daily routine.

Individual Now Next Boards and Visual Timetables were accessible for each child leading to a reduction in anxiety and frustration, as well as an increase in their independence 😊

‘Joining in and playing’ and ‘Giving your child a word’ have been our key messages for the last 2 Let’s Talk with your Toddler’ groups.

Joining in with your child’s play shows them that you are interested in what they are doing. It also gives you the opportunity to model other types of play.
Adding simple words to match your child’s play e.g tip, dig, splash helps support your child to understand the meaning of the word.

We can’t wait for next week!!
