I had the absolute pleasure at the weekend of spending time with an amazing group of women from Ardoyne, Ligoniel, and Woodvale in the Houben Centre, Holy Cross — chatting about mental health awareness and the importance of good sleep.

It was such a lovely day filled with openness, laughter, and shared experiences. 💚

A huge thank you to the Ardoyne Association for sponsoring the session and supporting the wellbeing of the community.

On Friday evening, 10th October, World Mental Health Day I had the privilege of spending time in Ledley Hall Youth Club, East Belfast, talking about Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing.

A massive thank you to Michelle Fullerton, Senior Youth Leader, for the invitation and for the amazing work she does with young people in the community. 💚

Today, on World Mental Health Day, it’s a powerful reminder of the importance of taking time to look after our own wellbeing. In my MindSkills Training, we focus on building everyday tools to support mental health from mindfulness and self-awareness to recognising signs of stress and knowing when to reach out for help. Looking after your mind is just as important as looking after your body; small daily actions like pausing to breathe, talking openly, and showing kindness to yourself can make a big difference. Let’s keep the conversation going not just today, but every day.

As a society, we have a responsibility to ensure that people within our community, have the opportunity to discuss the subject of mental health.

It’s been an absolute pleasure spending the last four weeks with the young people of Resurgam Youth Initiative in Lisburn and their fantastic youth leaders. Together we explored mental health, drugs and alcohol, online safety, and how to communicate with one another.

I’m so impressed by the enthusiasm and openness shown by the group – their genuine interest in understanding and supporting mental health is inspiring.

I’m really looking forward to the next four weeks with the adults! Huge thanks to Lindsay, Jenny and Bryson Pathways for making this possible.
