With the Winter Paralympics underway, we thought we’d try some Racers winter sports ❄️

No ice.
No sleds.
Just athletes, coaches… and a bit of chaos.

📚📚 £450 raised from a table of second-hand books. Amazing what a community can do.

During February, the second-hand book stall at Tesco Northcott raised an incredible £450 for Newtownabbey Racers.

Every book bought helped support our athletes — helping them train, compete and continue being part of the Racers family.

A huge thank you to everyone in the local community who stopped to browse and pick up a book, and to Tesco Northcott for hosting the stall and supporting our club.

Support like this really does mean the world to our athletes 💙💛

💙 A big thank you to Carrickfergus Lions Club!

On Wednesday night, we were delighted to receive a cheque presentation from Carrickfergus Lions Club, presented by Trevor Wasson, who have kindly sponsored one of our athletes heading to the Special Olympics Ireland Games.

On top of this generous support, Trevor also made a personal donation of £100 to help our athletes on their journey to the Games.

Support like this makes a real difference and helps give our athletes the opportunity to compete, represent their club, and create lifelong memories.

13 years ago Owen asked Lee when her birthday was… and he’s remembered it every year since.

So tonight the athletes made sure she got a full birthday sing-along. 🎂

Six of our Newtownabbey Racers athletes are heading to the 2026 Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games to represent Ulster — and we couldn’t be prouder.

For some, standing on that start line once felt impossible. Each of them has overcome something to reach this stage.

This is about more than competition.
It’s about belief.
Resilience.
And proving what’s possible.

We’re raising £2,000 to support shared Games costs, including travel and accommodation for athletes and volunteer coaches.

💙💛 Ireland Games 2026 💙💛

Six of our athletes have been selected to represent Newtownabbey Racers and Team Ulster at the Ireland Games 2026 — and we are so proud.

Their place on the Team Ulster squad was earned across two competitions in 2024 and 2025.

At Racers, we show up for fun, friendship and the chance to grow.
When people are given the right support and space to be themselves, amazing things can follow.

This opportunity is something truly special — and fully deserved. 💛

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be celebrating each athlete and their journey.
