MCP First Aid Training offers the fully accredited SIA licence first aid qualification which is mandatory for roles within the security sectors and must be completed before starting the relevant SIA training.

The required qualification is typically an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate for door supervisor and security guard licenses, while close protection licenses require a first aid qualification at Level 3 or above.

The qualification must be from an Ofqual-regulated awarding body and is valid for three years before it needs to be renewed.

Child convulsions, most commonly febrile seizures, are caused by a high fever and involve the child losing consciousness and their body shaking or jerking.

To help a child having a convulsion, ensure the area is clear, place them on their side in the recovery position, and do not put anything in their mouth. If the convulsion lasts more than five minutes, call 999 / 112.

This is what happens when a rugby club obtained AED training from a non certified training provider.

If AED pads are improperly placed, the AED may fail to detect the heart rhythm or deliver an ineffective shock. Hence, incorrect AED pad placement could potentially lead to defibrillation process failure and ultimately, even loss of the sudden cardiac arrest victim's life.

As a training instructor and assessor I’ve had questions regarding choking devices and their effectiveness

Please find the below the article from the Resuscitation Council UK.

RCUK’s position on the use of suction-based airway clearance devices on choking individuals

Several suction-based airway clearance devices for the treatment of choking (anti-choking devices) are now available in the UK.

We do not currently support their use, as there is insufficient research and evidence on the safety or effectiveness of these devices.

We are concerned that the use of these devices could delay established treatments for choking.

Appropriately trained healthcare professionals can already use advanced techniques such as suction or laryngoscopy and forceps for the removal of foreign body airway obstructions.
