💐Yesterday, I mixed up two blends for the lovely Claire who is experiencing perimenopausal symptoms which include sleeplessness and and lack of focus. The two blends will improve quality of sleep and improve energy levels with the aim of not just treating symptoms but improving quality of life.
Essential oil choice was based upon evidence and upon appropriateness for the Claire.
For Sleep we chose a Rollerball using:
Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil which is a good pe*******on enhancer
Lavandula angustifolia ( high altitude lavender) for its Ester and Alcohol content
Citrus aurantium var. amara (neroli) also for its Ester and Alcohol content but which also contains the Monoterpene d-limonene
Salvia sclarea (clary sage) high in linalyl acetate an Ester and linalol an alcohol.
These phytochemicals have an evidence base as calming and balancing on a psychological level and will help to calm the mind before sleep. Such a beautiful way to nod off!
To support energy levels and focus we mixed an Aromastick using:
Picea mariana (Black spruce) for its limonene, a-pinene and b-pinene but it is also high in esters.
Rosmarinus officinalis ct. 1,8 cineole (Rosemary) well known to be a brain
stimulant and used for poor concentration.
Melissa officinalis (Melissa) high in geranial and neral known to have an an oestrogenic effect.
Origanum marjorana (sweet marjoram) for its limonene, a-pinene, b-pinene, linalyl acetate and linalol, content.
This blend is energising and grounding with Black spruce and Rosemary offering uplifting properties but Melissa and Sweet marjoram balancing properties to keep the Claire going throughout the day both physically and emotionally. The smell as divine.
The aroma of Rosemary improved long-term memory and mental arithmetic (Dr Jemma McCready and Dr Mark Moss from the University of Northumbria) well done Northumbria!
Let's hope Claire discovers the benefits that essentials oils can bring to her .
