Healing Haven Welcome to my page I'm a Reiki Master Teacher and intuitive healer specialising in Usui Reiki, Holy Fire® Reiki, Violet Flame Reiki and Crystal Healing.

I'm passionate about energy healing work that restores balance, calm and inner harmony. My journey with Reiki began at a turning point in my life, when faced with health challenges and the prospect of relying on medication indefinitely. Determined to find a natural and empowering solution, I discovered the incredible healing power of Reiki. In just two sessions, I felt a profound shift within myself - my anxiety eased, and I regained a sense of vitality and well-being. Inspired by this transformative experience, I knew I had to delve deeper into the world of Reiki. Learning this ancient practice was a true blessing - my health continued to improve, and I found immense joy in sharing the gift of Reiki with my loved ones. Witnessing their own healing journeys unfold was a source of boundless happiness for me.

Ever wanted to be invited somewhere…
but also found yourself making excuses in your head about why you might not go?

Ever felt lonely at home
but completely drained after socialising?

For a long time, I felt caught between wanting connection and needing solitude.

I’ve written a very personal blog about being a sensitive, introverted soul, anxiety, coping mechanisms that didn’t truly help, and how energy healing and Reiki changed things for me.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the world, this might resonate 🤍

Coping vs Regulating: What’s the Difference?

After talking about fight or flight, I wanted to gently explore something many of us experience…

The difference between coping and regulating.

When we feel overwhelmed or anxious, we naturally reach for ways to cope.

Coping might look like:

• Scrolling on our phones to distract ourselves
• Overworking
• Overeating
• Keeping busy so we don’t have to feel
• Reaching for something to “take the edge off”

Coping isn’t wrong.
It’s the nervous system trying to survive.

But coping doesn’t always calm the body — it often just postpones what we’re feeling.

Regulating is different.

Regulating means helping the nervous system move out of fight or flight and into safety.

It can look like:

• Slow, conscious breathing
• Gentle movement
• Time in nature
• Grounding practices
• Receiving Reiki
Having a Massage

When we regulate, the heart rate slows.
Breathing deepens.
Muscles soften.
The body begins to feel safe again.

And when the body feels safe, we don’t need to escape the feeling — we can process it.

This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about learning to support your nervous system rather than constantly pushing through.

Healing begins with safety 🤍

What Happens in the Body When We’re Stressed?

When we feel stressed, it isn’t just in our minds.
It’s in our nervous system.

Whenever the body senses pressure, overwhelm, or even subtle emotional tension, the sympathetic nervous system switches on.

This is what we call the fight or flight response.

Your body prepares for danger — even if the “danger” is just a busy inbox, financial worry, or a difficult conversation.

You might notice:

• Your heart beating faster
• Tightness in your shoulders or jaw
• Shallow breathing
• Racing thoughts
• Feeling on edge or unable to relax

Over time, living in this state can contribute to anxiety, panic attacks, poor sleep, digestive issues, and that constant feeling of being “switched on”.

And here’s the important part:

It doesn’t mean you’re weak.
It doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

It means your nervous system has been trying to protect you.

The difficulty is that modern life keeps many of us in this activated state far longer than our bodies were ever designed for.

This is why nervous system regulation is so important in healing work like Reiki.

Reiki gently encourages the body to move out of fight or flight and into a state of safety — where breathing softens, muscles release, and the body can finally rest.

Whether in-person here in Northampton or through distant Reiki sessions, the aim is the same:
to guide the nervous system back into balance.

And when the body feels safe, healing begins 🤍

Day 6 – You Can Train Your Nervous System

Over the last few days we’ve explored:

• What it feels like to be ungrounded
• How to reconnect to the body
• Breath as regulation
• Creating safety internally
• The difference between coping and true calming

Here’s the most important thing I want you to know:

Your nervous system is not broken.

It is adaptive.

If you’ve lived in stress, overwhelm, or high alert for a long time, your body simply learned to survive that way.

But just as it learned stress…
It can learn safety.

Regulation is not about being calm all the time.
It’s about building resilience.
It’s about returning to balance more easily.

Through breathwork, grounding and Reiki, we gently teach the body:

“You are safe now.”

And when the body feels safe, the energy field softens.
When the energy softens, healing begins.

If this series resonated with you, and you’d like support retraining your nervous system in a gentle, supported way, I offer Reiki sessions in Northampton and by distance.

🌿 Day 5 – What Are We Using to Cope?

For a long time, when I felt overwhelmed or overly stressed, I would have a glass of wine to relax.

And at first, it worked.

That first sip feels like a soft exhale.
The shoulders drop.
The edge comes off.

But very often, one glass became two.
Two quietly became the whole bottle.

Not because I lacked willpower —
But because alcohol temporarily suppresses the nervous system.

When the body feels that artificial calm, it wants to stay there.

The problem is… it isn’t true regulation.
It’s sedation.

And as the alcohol leaves the system, the nervous system rebounds.

That’s when you might notice:
• Waking at 3am
• Feeling slightly shaky
• Heightened anxiety the next day
• A sense of unease you can’t explain

I began to realise I wasn’t actually calming my nervous system.
I was overriding it.

Learning breathwork, grounding and Reiki completely changed that for me.

Through training and working with energy, I realised:
When I’m stressed, I don’t need to reach for a bottle.

I can regulate my body.
I can create safety.
I can soothe my system naturally.

And I wake up clear-headed the next morning.

There is no judgement here.
So many of us were never taught how to regulate in healthy ways.

This week, just notice.
What do you reach for when you feel overwhelmed?

Awareness is the first step toward change.

If you’d like support learning how to regulate your nervous system gently and naturally please reach out to me, I'm based in Northampton & if distance is a problem we can do a distance session over zoom or messenger or WhatsApp.

Any questions you can ask in comment's below or book a free consultation with me.

Day 4 – Creating Safety in the Body

By now we’ve:
• Noticed when we feel ungrounded
• Understood what grounding means
• Used breath to regulate the nervous system

Today we go a little deeper.

Place one hand on your heart and one on your lower belly.

After a few slow breaths like we did yesterday (day 3), quietly ask yourself:

“Do I feel safe right now?”

Not in your thoughts —
In your body sit in stillness and listen to your body.

If your shoulders are tight, soften them.
If your jaw is clenched, release it.
Let your belly be soft.

Safety isn’t just a mindset.
It’s a nervous system experience.

When the body feels safe, the energy field softens.
When the energy field softens, healing begins.

You are allowed to feel calm.
You are allowed to feel supported.

If you’d like support regulating your nervous system and energy, please get in touch for a free consultation.

Day 3 – A Gentle Breathing Reset 🌿

Today we’re going to try a simple regulation technique that supports the parasympathetic nervous system — the part responsible for rest and repair.

Place one hand on your heart.
Place one hand on your belly.

Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of 4.
Allow the tummy to expand… then the ribs to gently widen.

Hold softly for a count of 2.

Then breathe out slowly though the mouth for a count of 6 (or longer if it feels comfortable).

The longer exhale signals safety to the nervous system.

Repeat this cycle three to four times, you can continue for longer, but if your new to breathing exercises start with three to four rounds aim to do this twice a day.

Then allow your breathing to return to a natural rhythm and simply sit for a moment.

If you like, you can play soft background music — theta frequency or gentle binaural beats can deepen relaxation.

This is how we begin teaching the body that it doesn’t need to stay in survival mode.

Subtle shifts create powerful change.

Day 2 – Why You Can’t Just “Switch Off” 🌿

Have you ever noticed…

You finally sit down.
The house is quiet.
There’s nothing urgent to do.

And yet your body still feels alert?

Your shoulders stay tense.
Your mind keeps scanning.
You feel like you should be doing something.

That’s not a personality flaw.

When we’ve lived in stress for a while, the body forgets how to move into its natural rest state.

The nervous system gets used to “on.”

So when things go quiet… it doesn’t always feel safe.

This is where gentle regulation comes in.

Not forcing calm.
Not positive thinking.
But teaching the body, slowly, that it’s allowed to soften.

Tomorrow I’ll share one very simple way to begin that shift 🤍

Nervous System Reset

Day 1 – Are You Stuck in Fight or Flight?

Can I gently ask you something?

Do you ever feel:
• Tired but wired
• Snappy for no real reason
• Unable to switch off
• Overthinking everything
• On edge… even when nothing is “wrong”?

That isn’t weakness.

That’s your nervous system doing its job.

When we’ve been stressed for a long time — work, family pressures, grief, uncertainty — the body can stay in fight or flight mode.

It forgets how to fully relax.

And no amount of “just calm down” fixes that.

Your body needs to feel safe again.

Over the next few days, I’m going to gently share what’s really happening in the nervous system — and simple ways to support it.

Because you deserve more than just coping.

If this resonates, just comment 🌿 or message me.
