My daughter, Jasmine, has given me permission to share this here with some background info:
She has recently achieved a huge and significant success at work. To cut a long story short, she quit Uni and has moved jobs three times, struggling to make decisions but working hard.
She has suffered some extreme anxiety over the past 6 years, starting at school, she nearly changed schools because of it! She is risk adverse, worries, has panic attacks and often doesn't feel good enough. She has learnt to be assertive, generally deals with mean people by "killing them with kindness" and holding her head high. She sucks up anxiety and commits to moving forward. She is proud of herself.
I am also proud of her for agreeing to allow me to share this. There is no shame in anxiety but so often in therapy, I am working with people who are trying to hide it. This sets up anxiety about anxiety! I encourage you to share your stories here.
