Are you suffering from a disc herniation? A disc herniation, also known as a slipped disc or ruptured disc, occurs when the soft, gel-like center of a spinal disc bulges out through a crack in the tough outer layer. This can put pressure on the nerves in the spine and cause pain, numbness, and tingling in the back, buttocks, and legs. Treated as early as the symptoms start, a full recovery can successfully be achieved. The longer these problems are left, the longer they take to improve and sometimes changes can only be achieved through surgery.

At our physiotherapy clinic, we specialize in treating disc herniations. Our experienced therapists can help alleviate your pain and improve your mobility through a variety of treatment techniques, including stretches, exercises, and manual therapy.

Don't let a disc herniation keep you from doing what you love. Contact us today to schedule an appointment and start your journey to recovery. Our therapists will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and goals. Don't wait any longer – take the first step towards relief today.

Session 1 progress - 2.5 years after total knee replacement
This client has been to numerous other physios and had no improvement in range of motion and function for 2 years. We had our first session yesterday and as you can see from the photo, the range of motion has already improved.
The client is 73 years old and his goal is to get back to playing tennis and coaching with a functioning knee.

This is a Disc herniation with nerve compression on an MRI image. What the term "slipped disc" or "sciatica" looks like on an MRI image. The MRI shows the disc protruding out of it's space and compressing the nerve that travels through the canal that is located at the posterior side of the vertebrae. The symptoms associated with this problem can be:

- pain in the lower back area
- pain running down the buttocks into the leg
- numbness or weakness in the leg
- burning sensation or tingling in the buttock or running down the leg
- reduced control in the leg

We can help this problem with our advanced therapies such as K-laser, Electro stimulation, Shockwave therapy, massage and Infrared cupping. Increasing blood flow and stimulating healing at a cellular level helps to accelerate healing. Once the pain is reduced, we implement targeted exercise rehabilitation to strengthen the muscles and achieve long term results.

Step ups - great exercise to increase leg strength and power. Working on acceleration/deceleration.

To perform this exercise correctly, the knee should not shift inwards. Push through the heel, to recruit the glute muscles and slow down on the downwards phase.
