Putting so much effort into eating well?? but if your body is under chronic stress, it can’t respond the way you expect.

That’s because stress affects nearly every part of your physiology, digestion, hormones, inflammation, immune function, sleep, appetite, metabolism, energy, and more.

So if you’re eating well but still feel stuck, low, fatigued, inflamed, or like your progress has plateaued…
it’s not a lack of willpower.
It’s not that your diet “isn’t good enough.”
It might be that your stress load is competing with your nutrition efforts.

This is why, as a nutritionist, I don’t focus on food alone.
I support clients with:
- Targeted, sustainable nutrition
- Nervous system + stress regulation
- Habits that create a physiology that can actually benefit from nourishment

When the body shifts out of stress mode, it digests better, balances hormones more efficiently, manages energy more steadily, and feels more resilient.

If you’re tired of doing “all the right things” and still feeling stuck, send me a DM with “BALANCE” for a chat.

Feeling unmotivated?
It’s common to think that this time of year, lack of motivation comes from the darker nights or seasonal changes.
Sometimes we think it’s hormones or mindset, but there might be a much simpler and more overlooked reason.
Food intake. And lack of it.

If you’ve started a training plan and were doing really well at first, then suddenly lost your mojo, this might sound familiar.
Even if you’re not training heavily but just feel uninspired, sluggish or unable to get going, it could still be undernutrition.

Sometimes the root cause lies in the most overlooked area, and I see this far too often.
Energy expenditure is high, food intake is low.
Or you’ve been cutting back to drop a few pounds, and then motivation, energy, and mood crash.
Because when fuel is too low, the brain suffers and the symptoms show.

🧠 Your brain runs mainly on glucose. It makes up only about 2% of your body weight but uses around 20% of your daily energy.
When fuel is low, the brain conserves energy. Thinking slows, fatigue hits and dopamine, the motivation neurotransmitter, drops.

Research shows that low calorie or protein intake can change dopamine signalling and blunt the brain’s reward system, leaving you feeling flat, unfocused and unmotivated.

Low fuel = Low dopamine = Low drive.

🤗This is what I work on with my clients, making sure each person is properly fuelled to support their individual needs, lifestyle and goals.
So they can thrive, perform better and get their drive back!!

💬 If this resonates, share it with someone who’s been feeling off lately. Sometimes the fix isn’t more willpower, it’s more fuel.

I used to believe it was all about protein. 🥩
If I ate enough chicken, eggs, and protein shakes, I thought I’d recover faster & feel stronger.

But even though I ate well and trained hard… something wasn’t right.
✅ Quality foods
✅ Healthy fats
✅ Three balanced meals
But still felt drained.

The truth?
I was missing something bigger.
Carbs. 🍚🍌🥔

I hit my protein targets thinking it would boost my training and recovery, but instead, I plateaued.
I was constantly sore, injured, and exhausted. My cycles changed, and my motivation disappeared.

Then I learned how to fuel properly.

Everything shifted:
✨ My mood improved
✨ My energy came back
✨ My cycles balanced
✨ I recovered faster
✨ Training finally felt good again

Yes protein, fats, and whole foods matter. But the balance wasn’t right for me.
I was burning more energy than I was consuming.

Once I increased my carbs (and got the timing right), my performance, recovery, and overall wellbeing transformed.

Proper fuelling isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Your training, recovery, and personal goals all shape what you need.

If you’re tired of feeling flat, overworked, or stuck, maybe it’s time to look at your fuel.

❄️Training hard this winter?- especially for Hyrox or other high-intensity events? Your immune system needs extra fuel 💥

Indoor training, heavy loads, and colder months all add extra stress. And if you’re not fuelling enough (especially with carbs), your body doesn’t have the energy it needs to recover or defend itself.

🧠 Carbs don’t just power your sessions- they power your immune system.
🍚 They lower cortisol (your stress hormone), and support your nervous system.

So this winter, think of your carbs as protection, not just performance fuel.

What are your fears?? 😱

We often think our fears are about things like spiders, heights, confined spaces etc.
But the truth is, many of our biggest fears are much deeper.

For years, I thought I was just afraid of spiders and heights…
But what I was really afraid of was:
failing, losing control, being judged, letting people down, and not being liked.

Those fears kept me stuck, in a cycle of overworking, overtraining, and burning out.
No matter how much I tried to “better” myself physically or mentally,
I’d always end up exhausted and frustrated, wondering why I couldn’t sustain progress.

It took time (and a lot of self-compassion) to realise that my fears were simply beliefs I’d created from past experiences, not facts, not truths.

And once I started to challenge those beliefs,
I began to free myself, to rebuild trust with my body,
and to find peace in how I move, eat, and live.

Now, as a trauma-informed, neurodivergent specialist and nutritional therapist in sport and exercise nutrition,
this is exactly what I help my clients with.

Because it’s never just about nutrition.
It’s about understanding the fears and beliefs that shape how we show up, so we can create genuine freedom, confidence, and performance in all areas of life.

✨ If this resonates, know that you’re not alone.
Breaking free starts with awareness, and compassion.

🫚Three plants for recovery 👇👇👇
After training, your muscles deal with micro-tears, inflammation, and oxidative stress.

Here are 3 natural ingredients proven to support recovery 👇

🍫 Cacao: The potent antioxidant
Rich in flavonoids and magnesium, cacao helps reduce oxidative stress and muscle damage.
Research shows cocoa flavanols can lower inflammation markers and support faster recovery.
→ Add 1 tbsp raw cacao powder for a rich, chocolatey boost.boost.

🌿 Ginger: The Anti-Inflammatory
Contains gingerols and shogaols that fight inflammation and soreness.
A Journal of Pain (2010) study found daily ginger intake cut muscle pain by ~25% after exercise.
→ Blend 3 thumb size pieces and boil in 300ml water for 10 mins. Let cool and take in shots throughout the day

🍵 Matcha (Green Tea): The Cellular Shield
Loaded with EGCG, a potent antioxidant that supports cellular repair and reduces oxidative stress.
Studies show green tea catechins improve recovery and endurance.
→ Use cold-brewed green tea or ½ tsp matcha powder as your shake base.🌱

I’ll be honest… I’m not training consistently at the moment.

Last year, I was all in. Training hard, progressing, and feeling on top of things. Until suddenly, this year, I wasn’t. My body started to struggle, little injuries appeared, my energy dropped, and mentally I just felt drained.

Life got busier and the load became too much. So, I made the tough decision to pull back. And if I’m honest, that’s something I’ve always found really hard to do.

Instead, I’ve focused on moving in ways that feel supportive rather than depleting. More yoga, mobility, slower strength sessions… and lots of time outside walking and reconnecting with nature. And of course nourishing my body with food that I love!

It’s easy to scroll and see everyone smashing their goals and feel like you’re falling behind. But I remind myself that stepping back isn’t failure, it’s part of the process.

I will get back to where I was, probably stronger than before. But right now, my body and nervous system need nurturing, not pushing.

Progress doesn’t always mean going harder, sometimes it means slowing down. 💫
