Wanting change but not sure how to make it happen? You know something has to shift, and you’re ready to grow — personally and in your business — but you need a roadmap. But your future self isn’t a mystery — she’s the version of you who shows up every day with clarity, energy, and focus. The secret? Scheduling your habits and goals so your brain knows exactly where to put its attention.

Start with your non-negotiables: school runs, meals, work commitments. These are the anchors that structure your day.

Next, add in the things that nourish you and your family:
✔️ Family time
✔️ Self-care
✔️ Leisure and rest

Then, fit everything else around them. Think carefully about the habits your future self would thank you for — Pilates at 7:30pm, a weekly planning hour, or even 15 minutes of journaling.

There’s actually a simple scientific formula your brain can follow to achieve any goal. (I know because i use it for every single goal I set myself!) Because when your goals are structured properly — with habits, deadlines, visualisation and feedback loops — your brain stops feeling overwhelmed and starts executing.

Most people think visualisation is just imagination and woo woo. It's not. In goal setting science, visualising your future is actually mental rehearsal — the same technique used by elite athletes and high performers.

When you repeatedly imagine your future life in detail — how you work, live, move, earn, travel, feel — your brain activates many of the same neural pathways as if you were actually experiencing it.

Over time, this does three crazy powerful things:

✨ It builds familiarity- Your brain stops seeing that future as impossible and starts seeing it as normal and achievable.

✨ It strengthens neural pathways- Through neuroplasticity, the circuits linked to that identity and behaviour become stronger and more familiar.

✨ It activates your brain’s in-built filtering system- Your Reticular Activating System begins spotting opportunities, ideas and actions aligned with that vision that you can see for yourself- it becomes real.

There’s more for you — you’re not imagining it. You’re starting to see a different life. You’re daydreaming about it. You can picture it in flashes.

Even if the people around you don’t fully understand (they rarely do in my experience). That moment — when you can’t unsee the possibility of something bigger — is powerful. Your brain is beginning to search for a new direction.

This is where journalling becomes one of the most effective tools in goal setting science. When you write about your future, you’re not just reflecting — you’re training your brain. You’re strengthening neural pathways through repetition, activating awareness, and giving your mind a clear picture to lock onto.

Your brain can’t move toward what it can’t see. Journalling allows your imagination to expand, carve out the details, and create a vision your brain can start recognising in the real world.
