Your brain will always default to what feels safe and familiar — unless you give it a new 2026 vision to follow. That’s just how neuroscience works.

When goals are vague, half-written, or kept “in your head,” your brain has nothing clear to lock onto. So it quietly pulls you back into old patterns, old routines, old thinking because it's familiar and easy.

Trying to change your life without intentional planning rarely works. This is why I always start with a vision board — not as motivation, but as direction.

When you create a vision board with intention, you’re giving your brain a visual target. You’re activating its filtering system, teaching it what matters, and signalling the identity you’re stepping into.

Tonight I'm mapping out my 5-year plan. Not because I’m trying to control every detail of the future — but because I want my brain working with me, not against me.

Here’s what I’ve learned (both as a scientist and a mum with big goals):
When you take time to write out your future — and pair it with a vision board you actually look at — you activate the Reticular Activating System. It’s your brain’s targeting system. It decides what you notice… and what you ignore.

When your goals live only in your head, they stay fuzzy. But when you write them down, map them out, and see them regularly, your brain starts filtering the world differently.

You begin to notice:
• opportunities you would’ve missed
• ideas that suddenly make sense
• decisions that feel clearer
• actions that feel aligned with who you’re becoming

That’s not manifestation magic. That’s how the brain works.

This is why I always start with:
✨ a zoomed-out 5-year vision
✨ followed by a vision board with meaning, not aesthetics

I’m not trying to predict the future. I’m teaching my brain what matters — so it can guide me there. My brain will do the rest — one aligned decision at a time.

How you create your vision board matters.

It’s not just about pretty pictures. It’s about how your brain uses them.

That’s why I’ve created a simple Canva vision board template — so you’re not overthinking layouts, fonts, or where things go… you’re just plugging in the images that represent your future self.

When done right, a vision board works because it:

Your brain needs repetition. Passive exposure is powerful conditioning.

Ooh I love this one...it's DAY 27 and what a perfect day to clear the clutter. After the noise, the gifts, the mess, the wrapping, the stuff…today is a beautiful reset point.

And this isn’t just about having a tidy home — it’s about creating mental clarity, emotional calm, and space for new beginnings. Because mess and clutter has been shown to particularly affect women- showing higher cortisol (stress hormone) spikes. But you dont need to do everything at once, just choose one small space at a time.
