Calm Waters Hypnobirthing & Pregnancy Yoga

Calm Waters Hypnobirthing & Pregnancy Yoga Hi, I’m Keeley – The Yoga Midwife 💛 Midwife since 1997, mum of 2, grandmother of 4. An hour just for you & your baby to move, breathe & connect. 💕

I blend yoga, midwifery & hypnobirthing to help women feel calm, strong & empowered in pregnancy & birth. Pregnancy Yoga Classes are designed to encourage balance within the body and calmness in the mind to encourage a well positioned baby and positive mind set for a comfortable pregnancy, birthing and onwards for mum and her baby. We explore exercises and breathing methods to help us through labour reducing anxiety, the need for analgesia, avoiding common problems and promoting safe birthing. The Hypnobirthing course aims to educate and support women and their birthing companions so they may experience a positive, calm and comfortable birth. HypnoBirthing® teaches mothers and their birthing companions proven techniques to use antenatally, postnatally and during birth. These techniques if regularly practiced can reduce or eliminate the need for drugs or intervention and ensure that birthing is a positive experience not a traumatic memory. As a midwife I have witnessed how these techniques lead to a calmer and therefore quicker birth with empowering results for the mother and all involved. The classes give birthing companions purpose and a role in the pregnancy/birthing experience as they learn the best way to support their partners and babies through this special time. It is noticeable that babies born to HypnoBirthing® mothers are more calm and alert and breastfeeding initiation is smooth and prompt directly following their birth. The course consists of 4 weekly sessions and are suitable from 20 weeks gestation (the earlier the better to allow for plenty of practice). Classes are small to allow for personal interaction and plenty of learning opportunity so book early. Content includes:
Identify the birthing muscles and learn how to work with them for optimal results
Create a Birthing Plan to support your birthing choices
Learn how to set up a birthing environment to support a positive outcome and what to pack or prepare
Breathing techniques to aid relaxation to mother and improve oxygenation to the birthing muscles and baby
Relaxation Methods
Visualisation
Releasing limiting thoughts
Antenatal interaction and play with baby
How to make informed decisions throughout pregnancy and birth
Breast feeding advice

Pregnancy Yoga this week focuses on the prelabour warm up, what’s happening and having the patience to settle into your breath and not trying to rush the process. What you can do to pass the time and embracing the moment. Because impatience often leads to intervention — and patience opens the way.. Love yoga, love birth.

🌸 Next Tuesday's Pregnancy Yoga – Focus: Patience 🌸

This week’s theme is Patience — one of the most powerful tools we can cultivate during pregnancy.

So often, impatience can lead to early interventions and set off a cascade of medical steps that might not have been necessary. But when we trust the process — unless there’s a good medical reason not to — our bodies and babies know the best time to begin birth.

In this Tuesday’s class, we’ll:
✨ Explore how to trust your body’s timing
✨ Practice staying grounded while waiting
✨ Move through gentle yoga and calming breathwork

Let’s make space for stillness, trust, and deep inner knowing. Your body was made for this. 🌿

'The way you view birth affects the way you actually birth' (Marie Mongan) The war of positivity over negativity is a battle that needs to be won to achieve the birth you and your baby deserves. The focus of Tuesday's Pregnancy Yoga class is the importance of positivity in pregnancy and labour, how it affects your baby and your birth. It sometimes feels like there's a new childbirth-related news headline every week.

And no matter whether it's on the web, in the papers or on TV, it’s highly likely that it will be scary and focused on risk.

It may instill fear and undermine women’s confidence in their own bodies and babies.

Here are a few things that you should bear in mind when reading these headlines and the associated stories.

1. Both the originator of the research and the people who turn it into a story want to get the headline and the story to spread as far and wide as possible. Their job isn't to help you make an informed decision about what is right for you.

2. The goal of getting maximum publicity for a research finding or story is sometimes achieved by taking a sensationalist stance. Sometimes, key facts are glossed over, shared in a misleading way or left out completely.

3. Risk and fear sell news very quickly. There are many, many studies showing that birth is safe and that women's bodies are marvellously good at growing, birthing and feeding babies. But these don't make exciting headlines, and they don't make nearly as many people read, click and share, so they are often ignored.

4. There is almost never any discussion of the bigger picture or the wider context, either of the study or situation itself or of other work that has been done on the same topic. We need more information than can be found in the headlines.

5. In reality, research and report findings are never certain. All studies have limitations. Sadly, the complexity and the uncertainty gets compromised in favour of those risk-filled headlines which make you want to click, read and share.

Stay calm. Remember that the job of the media is to sell headlines, not to help people making pregnancy and birth decisions.

Breathe.

Get informed.

And then make the decision that's right for you.

Pregnancy Yoga Classes – This Tuesday 🧘‍♀️

Preparing for your new baby isn’t about the latest designer gear — it’s about creating a calm, safe, and supportive welcome into the world.

Join us this Tuesday for a special session of Pregnancy Yoga, where we’ll explore the vital role of baby’s position in the womb. With regular yoga, good posture, and mindful movement, you can help your baby get into the best position for birth — easing their journey through the pelvis on their birthing day.

How your baby is born can shape both your lives in profound ways. Preparing well during pregnancy can make all the difference — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Discover the many benefits of pregnancy yoga in a warm and supportive space.
