This week is Mental Health Awareness Day … Now, more than ever, it’s vital to take time to check in with yourself each day …
You might like to try these simple steps to take some time out…
1. Try setting several reminders for yourself throughout the day … like you would schedule a meeting that you would not miss … if only for a minute, find a place to be still, and try to drop into your breath. Imagine breathing in and out of your heart. Take at least 10 breaths.

2. Take time to be outside … sit with a cup of tea and simply watch the nature around you

3. Stand with your back against a tree and feel how your breath connects you to the tree. As you breathe in, you breathe in what the tree gives to you, and as you breathe out you give the tree what it needs … simple!

4. Or take a walk … however short. Feel your connection to the earth with each step. Listen to the sounds around you. Even in an urban setting you will see signs of nature … plants creeping up through cracks in the pavement. Birds high in the sky…

5. Schedule a mini retreat … these can be easier to commit to both financially and time wise…Coming up this Sunday I am hosting another yoga breakfast club at Olney Pilates Studio … why not join us? Just two hours to start your day connecting to you and sharing breathe, meditation and breakfast with other lovely souls. Message me for more info or to book🤗

My favourite times of day - especially beautiful yesterday with the full moon in Aquarius. Was anyone else feeling exhausted with the huge build of emotion? Feel so much better today after this chance to release. As we are largely made up of water, is it any surprise that we are governed by the cycles of our beautiful grandmother moon?

I was listening to a podcast the other day & they were speaking about the story of Buddha leading a silent meditation during which he simply held up a flower in front of his audience. At the end of this, one of the monks looked at Buddha with a smile. This was the monk who had understood the meditation. You might choose to gaze at the image I have placed here, a photo of a rose taken in my garden last year, or perhaps you would like to find a flower in your garden or a park … you’d be amazed where they spring up - through cracks in pavements and other unlikely places too. Contemplate the flower, allowing yourself to drink in the beauty of it. I always marvel at the variety of colours, structures, scents that one finds in the world of flowers. What can be more beautiful than even the humblest of flowers? Where do they come from? How do they create the nectar for the insects? How do they lead the way for the fruit & seeds that are to follow, enabling the whole process to begin again? It really is miraculous. Take time to appreciate the magnificent beauty of nature 💗 🌸

This morning, after a few days of it finally being sunny here in the UK, I awoke to the all too familiar sound of heavy rain. Now everyone who knows me even just a little bit knows that I am a sun worshipper by nature. People have referred to me as a lizard ( I choose to take this as a compliment rather than a reference to my ageing skin!) I used to say I ‘hated’ rain, wind, cold … anything other than sunshine & heat. But these days I have shifted my perception.., without the rain, we would not have the beautiful spring green that has exploded about us over these few weeks. Without the rain we would not have the streams, rivers, lakes and oceans that I love to be near / in & on. I have learned to love the comforting, almost meditative sound of the raindrops on the roof, and have even learnt to love the feeling of the rain against my skin as I walk each day with my four legged friends. And sometimes, there is the gift of a rainbow. I have to admit that it took me longer to see the gift in the task of drying off wet & muddy spaniels, but I have actually learnt to love this time with them. Very often there is a bird singing nearby the back door, and it is a time for connection with these animals who show me so much love … an opportunity to show them that I care for them … they reward me with gazes full of love & gratitude. Every day holds a beauty & a gift that can feed your heart & soul… you just need to see it. What is the gift & beauty of this day for you?
