This morning, after a few days of it finally being sunny here in the UK, I awoke to the all too familiar sound of heavy rain. Now everyone who knows me even just a little bit knows that I am a sun worshipper by nature. People have referred to me as a lizard ( I choose to take this as a compliment rather than a reference to my ageing skin!) I used to say I ‘hated’ rain, wind, cold … anything other than sunshine & heat. But these days I have shifted my perception.., without the rain, we would not have the beautiful spring green that has exploded about us over these few weeks. Without the rain we would not have the streams, rivers, lakes and oceans that I love to be near / in & on. I have learned to love the comforting, almost meditative sound of the raindrops on the roof, and have even learnt to love the feeling of the rain against my skin as I walk each day with my four legged friends. And sometimes, there is the gift of a rainbow. I have to admit that it took me longer to see the gift in the task of drying off wet & muddy spaniels, but I have actually learnt to love this time with them. Very often there is a bird singing nearby the back door, and it is a time for connection with these animals who show me so much love … an opportunity to show them that I care for them … they reward me with gazes full of love & gratitude. Every day holds a beauty & a gift that can feed your heart & soul… you just need to see it. What is the gift & beauty of this day for you?
