Courses information update:

Introduction to Corticosteroid Injection Therapy
The course has run once or twice a year (since 2006) and provides an introduction to corticosteroid injection therapy for common musculoskeletal conditions of the foot. It lasts for two days and is followed by a period of supervised clinical practice (to be arranged by the delegate). To complete the course and receive accreditation, the delegate must pass an end-of-course MCQ exam and complete 10 mentored injections.

Anatomy Dissection Course
This event provides an opportunity for hands-on dissection of fresh frozen cadavers and is aimed at MSK podiatrists.
Date: Tuesday 10th March, 2026.
Venue: Clinical Skills Centre, City Hospital, Notts. NG5 1PG.
Aims and Learning Outcomes
• Develop tissue handling and dissection skills.
• Demonstrate an understanding of F&A anatomy
Cost: £450, which includes:
• Two cadaver specimens between three delegates
• Clinical instruction from the appointed Faculty
• Instrumentation, protective gowns for wet lab use

Run over four nights (two in Jan and two in Feb) we will highlight the use of the main POM-S and POM-A drugs we use (or should use) as well as revise the most common drugs that our typical podiatry patient uses.

After our first joint on-line zoom back in April, 2025 John and I (with Mike Stephenson running the show behind the scenes) took some time in planning for more events in 2026. The often troublesome soft corn. Usually it’s a case of bone versus bone and the skin gets caught in the crossfire. This one had a prominent medial proximal phalanx (distal condyle). De bumping is the plan.

Part C of the skin surgery course done. Great cohort, coming on nicely. Practice practice now before hitting the cadaver lab.

And chill. Great crowd for our latest needling course up in Edinburgh. I always try to judge updating pods on the safe and effective use of LA vs me nerding out on pharmacological minutiae (vs mythbusting ‘what I was taught at college’). Couple of drinks with some local pod friends and always a pleasure to share the stage with ‘Needles’ Longhurst .

Here is the 4-week follow up on the bilobed flap post suture removal. All healed, but it will be sometime before we know that it has healed with minimal scarring (and no recurrence).
