As we near the end of the year you might be thinking about what you can do differently in 2026.

Looking after yourself has to be top of the list.

But this doesn’t have to mean a full lifestyle overhaul.

It doesn’t need perfection, discipline, or a brand new routine you’ll drop by February. Sometimes it’s about carving out a small, intentional space where you can properly switch off and let your nervous system breathe.

That’s what The Heyford Recovery Hub allows you to do.

Come alone or bring a friend or 3.

Whatever you decide, our infrared saunas, cold plunge tubs and massage chairs are waiting for you.

Sessions available from 20 mins to 1 hour 50 mins.

Ice baths aren’t about being hardcore or pushing through pain.

They work because they teach your body how to handle stress. When you get into cold water, your breathing changes straight away. If you panic, everything feels worse. If you slow your breath, the body settles and your head clears.

Cold plunges can help your nervous system reset and can support focus, inflammation, and mental clarity. Most people don’t come out buzzing or shattered. They come out calmer and steadier.

Sometimes recovery is giving yourself a moment to reset.

Contrast therapy is exactly what it sounds like: you alternate heat and cold to give your body a bit of a “reset” that feels amazing afterwards.

Heat (like an infrared sauna) helps your blood vessels open up, boosts circulation, loosens tight muscles and gets you properly warmed through. Then the cold plunge flips the switch. Cold causes blood vessels to narrow, which can help reduce swelling and that heavy, achy feeling after training or a long week on your feet.

When you go back to warmth again, fresh blood flow rushes through and many people notice their legs feel lighter, their head feels clearer, and their nervous system calms down. Done regularly, contrast therapy is often used to support recovery, reduce muscle soreness, and improve stress resilience. It’s also a brilliant way to practise controlled breathing and build a bit of mental grit without needing to be “hardcore”.

If you’re new to it, keep it simple: a gentle sauna, a short cold dip, and plenty of slow breaths. If you’re pregnant or have heart or blood pressure concerns, check with a clinician first.

Want to try it in a private space for up to 4 people at Heyford Recovery Hub in Nether Heyford, with infrared sauna and cold plunges ready to go?

Infrared saunas don’t just make you feel good in the moment. They can genuinely support your skin in ways most people don’t realise.

The gentle heat reaches deeper than a traditional sauna, which can help your skin clear out what it doesn’t need while boosting circulation at the same time.

Better blood flow means more oxygen and nutrients reaching the skin…and that’s where the real glow starts to build.

Some people notice their skin looking clearer, smoother and a little tighter after regular sessions. That’s because those deeper heat levels can encourage collagen production and support your skin’s natural repair processes.

If you’re curious to see how infrared might feel for your own skin, you’re always welcome to come and try it for yourself at the hub 🩵🧡
