My passion for Yoga began more than seven years ago, whilst working as a Primary school teacher. I began attending weekly Yoga classes to support my own mental health and well- being, and as my personal practice grew, I knew I wanted to pass these skills on. This feeling strengthened when I moved into teaching children with Special Educational Needs. Through my 17 years as a class teacher, I have seen first-hand the toll that modern life can sometimes take on children and their families. I began to introduce daily relaxation sessions to my own class β and witnessed its profound effects. The children were more relaxed and could discuss and manage their own emotions, as well as those of their friends. I knew I wanted to engage more children through specialised childrenβs yoga and in 2017, I attended the prestigious YogaBeez training course, in London, and achieved my Foundation level certificate, which allowed me to teach yoga to all children aged 2 and up. This was followed by the Advanced level training with Yogabeez in April 2019.
As teaching children with additional needs is a passion of mine, I have attended and completed a training course with Yoβtism childrenβs yoga to deliver yoga therapy for children who need a focused 1-1 approach. βYogaPebblesβ was born , and like pebbles on a beach β¦β¦.each child in my class is unique and encouraged to grow individually, as well as form part of a special family of little pebbles! I am passionate about developing an awareness of mental health and well -being from an early age and incorporate mindfulness techniques and relaxation meditations into my YogaPebbles classes, through fun games and adventures. Inclusion is another passion of mine and at YogaPebbles we celebrate diversity ; all children are welcome. I hold a BA hons in Psychology and Health science and a PGCE in Primary Teaching. I have attended numerous training courses and events over the years to do with Personal, Social and Emotional intelligence and well- being, and I believe this is at the heart of teaching children in any capacity. β Like pebbles on a beach, each one is uniqueβ
