Today marks the Chinese New Year, the year of the fire horse. As we say goodbye to the shedding from the year of the wood snake, the fire horse promises momentum, embodiment, and taking things forward. Fire can be fierce, powerful, unboundaried, and wild. It can often also simmer away under the surface, a steady flame of light, warmth, creativity, and passion.
As I woke this morning, I had a huge sense of heart expansion. This is where I felt this new energy in my own body. Expansive, yes, but also gentle, soft, and a quiet presence that spoke of the other aspects of horse energy. The unwavering presence and mindfulness of being. Of softness, of community, matriarchy, observation and the huge, huge depth of heart that horses embody.
As I navigate my own internal depth of winter, I'm reminded that not all aspects of the fire and the horse are all about fast-paced doing. One of the things I miss the most about having horses in my life is their innate ability to ground me, to bring me back to my body, and to witness what's present within. It's not all about big extravagant forward momentum. That will come when the time is right, for now, trust that things are still unfolding. If you don't resonate with the big expansive energy that this year promises, I hope these musings have provided a reminder of the other side of the aspects of the fire and the horse 🙏🔥🐎
