We’ve had a few new faces join recently, so if you’re new here… hi, I’m Jackie.

I grew up in Texas with horses always close by. They were the constant in a childhood that asked me to grow up quickly. I didn’t have the language for any of it back then, but the connection I felt with horses carried me through in ways I only understand now.

At 14 I moved to the UK and stepped into a totally different chapter. I went on to study Psychology with Fine Art at what was then University College Chester and spent my uni years on the equestrian team, riding, competing, and finding myself back in the world that felt like home.

After that came my Diploma in Counselling, my Postgrad, and eventually an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. I became a certified psychotherapist in the UK, building a practice that blended depth, creativity, and real human connection. All the while, I knew the horses would return to the center of my work somehow.

That thread kept pulling.
I worked at an alternative education centre, supporting young people through horse care, mucking stalls, helping run equine therapy evenings. I completed EAGALA Level 1. I stayed curious about how these two worlds might fit together one day.

In 2018 I discovered Equus Coaching, and everything clicked into place. It felt like the bridge I had been waiting for, the place where my love of horses and my therapeutic work finally met.

Fast forward to today.
I am a certified Equus coach with a parts work, story focused flare, splitting my time between the UK and the USA, and currently training as a Master Facilitator so I can run workshops and retreats with teams, leaders, and groups. California has a pull I can’t ignore, so I’m slowly laying roots there too.

This space is where I share that journey. The horses, the work, the travel, the learning, the people, the becoming.

If you’re here for connection, clarity, growth, and a life shaped by courage and forward flow, you’ll feel right at home.

I’m on my soapbox this morning as I read about frustrated parents who have waited years for an EHCP/ formal ASC/ ADHD diagnosis for their kiddo. Here’s the facts…EHCP waiting lists are at an all time high and our children cannot pause their lives while the system catches up.

I meet so many families who are told to wait. Wait for an assessment. Wait for a review. Wait for a formal diagnosis. Wait for the EHCP process to move forward. And while all of this waiting is happening, their child is still trying to manage school, friendships, overwhelm, sensory needs, anxiety, and a world that often asks more from them than they can comfortably give.

The thing is, we do not need a diagnosis to start supporting a child.

If a child is struggling with anxiety, masking, sensory overload, transitions or communication, their nervous system is already giving us the information we need. Their experience does not begin on the day a report arrives. It is happening now.

There is so much we can put in place today.

• Reducing sensory load
• Regular movement and regulation breaks
• Clear routines
• Gentle, trauma informed communication
• A strength based approach
• Adults who bring calm, curiosity and connection
• Spaces where a child does not need to hide who they are (nature is our healing!)

None of this requires a diagnosis. It requires understanding, effort and a change of approach.

An EHCP is a legal document and a diagnosis can be helpful. But a child’s lived experience is the most important information we have and we can respond to that now.

Keep pushing for the paperwork when you need to. But do not wait to make changes that help your child feel safe, steady and understood today.

One of the hardest parts of my job is “deleting” the incredible, heartfelt creations of my clients after six months. I hold onto them with such care because every piece carries their brilliance ❤️

Being part of a school’s support team is something I treasure. Supporting young people with their mental health isn’t just my work, it’s personal. So much of my own struggle was missed when I was at school… the stomach aches, the trips to the nurse, the days I just couldn’t face going in and wanted my mum. All of those quiet signals that something wasn’t quite right.

Now, I pour my energy into making sure no young person feels unseen. That there’s space for them to share what’s on their mind, and that they’re given strategies and support to help them not just get by, but truly thrive.

It’s Wednesday again at Cheshire Riding School 🐴

We work with young people on EHCPs who need that extra layer of support. 🐴 Through equine assisted therapy, the horses offer a safe space to build calm, confidence, and emotional regulation.

If you’re exploring therapy options as part of an EHCP, message me, I’d love to chat.
